Some interesting stuff on ESPN today. Hester gets perfect speed rating in Madden 08.

That's interesting, because the headline for yesterday's "On the Clock" article, which covered the Panthers, was "One area the Panthers need to address is QB, where they need a successor to Jake Delhomme." Guess ESPN got it right on that one. :D

Not that I don't think he is a good player, but I think Hester is really overrated. Remember a few years ago when Dante Hall was lighting the world up on punt returns, a headliner on Sportscenter week after week, and then he dropped off the face of the earth. Returners are VERY dependent on the rest of the team, and can go from really hot to really cold very quickly. One of the positions where I really look for consistency over a few seasons before I make any judgments.

Yep. Eddie Drummond here in Detroit had 4 returns for TDs a couple years ago, including two punt returns in one game. He was something of a hot item. I remember his contract was up and the Lions signed him to a one year deal. I was upset thinking why didn't we nail down one of our few good players to a long term deal. But he hasn't done anything since, so I guess they knew what they were doing, go figure.

Once I heard which teams Carr had it narrowed down to, i knew he'd be a Panther. He'd be backing up an entrenched starter in any case, but Seattle has a decent back up and Carolina doesn't. And, there's no way he ever starts over a healthy Hasselbeck.

Someone told me Harrington was working out for the Panthers the other day. Guess thats not going to amount ot anything now. Poor Joey. *tear*

I still hope Joey H. can get his **** together some day. Everyone around here loved him from his U of O days, but his pro career just never amounted to much.

I'm sure Lions fans are still thrilled at the pick they spent on him, though.;)

Yea... Its funny with a premier pick like that. Part of you always wonders if he is in fact really good, but doesn't have the help he needs. Then he goes to Miami and he has the same production. At least we got something for him, whereas the Texans cut Carr outright.

Joey Harrington #3 pick - traded him for what ended up being a 5th round pick
Charles Rogers #2 pick - cut him
Mike Williams #10 pick - on his way to being cut

Talk about some wasted opportunites. You should have gotten at least one franchise player with those 3 picks, instead zero. :(

Yep, kind of reminds me of the Rick Mirer situation. Taken #2 overall, then failed utterly to live of to expectations. I though he was going to save the franchise.

That's where the similarities to Harrington end, though. Seattle got the #6 overall from the Bears in exchange for him four years in, and used the pick to get Walter Jones.:D lol

I heard Kris Jenkins is on the block; I bet he'll get lots of attention but DAMN would I like to see him sign.

He's dominant, but was injured a lot previously... might reduce the Panthers asking price for him. Get on it Mr. Ruskell! Make him a Seahawk.
