Geez... they just layed down and died last night! I was watching the highlights... I couldn't believe how many 2 on 1's that Detroit had!
Wow, 4OT game in Dallas is finally over and the Sharks are going home. What a marathon, I can't believe either goalie could lift their arms by the end of that one. Such a great game.
I am surprised at Dallas. Dispatching what I think are two much better teams on paper. And their task doesn't get any easier from here.
I really thought that if SJ could pull this out that they'd win the series... going back to the Tank.
I didn't see the game, but saw that Turco must have been a goalie GOD that game! One goal given up in likke 61 shots?!? Dallas was out shot by SJ too... 61 to 53.
Yeah, both goalies put on a clinic last night. I was extremely impressed by both of them. Nabokov had an amazing glove save at the beginning of the second OT and Turco had a number of saves off of bad Dallas turnovers. I think it was probably about 4 or 5 in the overtimes.
Shame but it looks like Ron will be looking for a new job this summer. 3 seasons in a row being one of the favorites to win the cup and dropping out in the second round in 6 games.
Kimmo Timonen is out for the rest of the playoffs with a blood clot in his ankle. And that should about do it for our postseason.:( There is no way we can contain the Pens without him.

GO PENS!!!! :)
If there is any year to win it, it's this one. Come on...we deserve it..the pirates just got voted the worst team in professional SPORTS
my dream is a pens/red wings final
BTW paul coffey and the cup both followed me to detroit when i moved away from pittsburgh
My dream is for the Pens to relocate to Siberia, so the rest of the league can carry on without Gary Bettman's little darlings.
Tonight will be oh such an ever-sweet pens victory!! :D :pQuote:

I think that Sid is amazing. The newest spokesman to promote the sport. Just unhappy that my Oil didn't get him the year that he was drafted.
Lost game 1. Oh well, the Flyers lost the first games against the Habs and Capitals, too.
I am of the opinion that his phenomenal talent is offset by all the thumb-sucking, and the fact that every time someone brushes up against him he flings himself to the ice as if pole-axed.Quote:

You know... I have heard this talked about... I just haven't seen it yet.Quote:

Back when he played for Montreal... I remember onetime him flailing around on the ice like a fish out of water like he'd been shot or something. The ref calls a penalty on an opposing player... and Robeiro pops up like a "whack a mole", and skates to the bench with a big grin on his face. Laughing at the penalized player the whole way there. It really was a disgusting site to behold. Reminded me of soccer.
Robeiro I have seen "flop" 100x worse than anything that I have ever seen Crosby do...
Until I see Crosby do something even remotely suspect... I'm not buying into the rumour.

Yea. I buy a good hockey magazine before every season that rates the teams and the players. The one that I bought this year made a similar comment... that with that many years of sucking that they were bound to "hit" on a few players drafted. Well... it looks like it has come full circle. The Pens are now loaded with good, young talent. Sprinkled with a few good vets (Gonchar and Hossa). If the cap doesn't kill them... I could see them being a dynasty.
I'm not familiar with who's in their farm system... but I think that it's still pretty loaded as well.
On a side note: Due to my continued hatred of Hatcher from his days of being a punk arsed bizatch against Edmonton... I'd like to see Laraque filet him on national tv. I know that it'll never happen though... because Hatcher has ever only fought guys much smaller than him (which is about 95% of the league). Hatcher has ended up running every time that push has come to shove between him and Laraque. Still though... it's my fantasy. Hopefully things boil over in a game at some point where Laraque corners him and he has nowhere to run and hide.
:p
Tell that to the Detroit LionsQuote:

Trust me, I have to watch him eight times a year. He's a friggin baby. Let Ovechkin be the NHL's Golden Boy.

Yeah, I bet Pens fans would be happy with that trade off too. Hatcher is a defensive stopper who plays real minutes, he has no business sitting for five in order to exchange pleasantries with the other team's goon. That's what Riley Cote is for-- btw Laraque recently called him 'pound for pound the toughest guy in the league.' If anyone is going to scrap with George, it's Cote.
Wings must destroy dallas.......after the post game hack at ozzie im pissed..I dont care if you hit a guy but do it like a man and use your fists....only sissies and russians use thier sticks
He's still young..If diving if the worst thing he does I'm fine with that. The real test will be whether he or Ovechkin can actually keep up their "greatness" and not eventually fizzle out. And lets not forget about Malkin.
Game tonight had some bad officiating IMO. Crosby's 2nd goal was in (give me a break). And some of the penalities on the flyers were a little ridiculous.. but I guess those two things even out.
GG #2, Talbot and his broken foot were apparently good enough to get the job done.

Officiating has just been ghastly in pretty much every playoff game I've watched. It's the common theme of these playoffs.
It won't matter now anyway. Philly is already minus their best forward and best d-man, and now our #2 dman Coburn is out courtesy of a puck right upside his melon. I'll be amazed if we don't get swept, we can't hang without our top pairing.
Is it me or are these semi-final matchups a little on the stale side? Maybe none of the teams I was rooting for made it this far and that's why but I'm not seeing much here.
My teams are winning so im happy, the wife is going to buy me 2 Jersies for the Final, so I can wear half a wing and half a quin jersey =)
If philly makes it I dont think there is any way conceivable they could ever keep up with the wings with their 2 best defensemen missing
Geez. Hard to argue after seeing that!Quote:

True. I think that Hatcher means more to the Flyers than Laraque means to the 'Pens.Quote:

I also like other aspects of Laraque's game that I've mentioned before. I haven't seen him playing like Holmstrom in fronmt of the net on the power play for the 'Pens. I think that he holds great value here as a screen and a general disruption for the goalie/defence. I think that he's being under utilized.
I'm unfamiliar with him. Does he add anything else to the team other than goon status? It seems like these days just being able and willing to drop thew gloves isn't enough.Quote:

Couldn't agree more.Quote:
This series has provided a real test for Laraque. He already has challenged Derian Hatcher, who has been trying to manhandle Malkin, but the Flyers defenseman declined.
"If you're 6-foot-5, 230, back it up," Laraque said. "Look at [Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno] Chara. Chara's big, he plays physical, but backs it up if he has to. [Anaheim Ducks defenseman Chris] Pronger. But Hatcher never does. He's a bully."
Let's just say Cote knows his role.;) He's a nice energy guy and a pretty good forechecker, but won't ever be confused for an offensive threat. Fourth line plugger. That guy can absorb some bombs and keep swinging somehow. He actually beat up Brian McGratton earlier this year, and even had a nice fight against Laraque. Still lost though.
fwiw, I hated Hatcher when he was with Dallas too. He's just one of those guys you don't mind when he's on your team. I agree that sometimes he looks too damn slow for this league, yet he seems to regain his value when the other team sets their offense up. He's still pretty effective as long as he doesn't have to skate too far to get to his assignment.
