Obviously we've all heard that Johnson is the best player in this draft, and not by a small margin. I don't think a team is off base by thinking that Johnson is a better addition to their team than Russell.
Again if Oakland thinks McCown can come in and be a decent starter for them next year (see the Texans acquisition of Shaub) then drafting the best player in the whole draft is much more likely. Also, McCown has experience in the NFL, he's thrown for over 400 yards a couple times, won a number of games with a terrible Arizona team etc. I'm not saying that he's going to the pro bowl, but it could be that Oakland would like to get a veteran QB and a potentially amazing WR to immediately upgrade their offense.
This all might be for naught, seeing as how the Lions may desperately want Johnson to still be on the board so they can either take him, or their #2 has the most valuable.
