I have been able to get my 9800 upto 425/370 without artifacts or snow, by taking the core and memory separate seeing how high they can go. These tests were done with the ambiant temps at 82f so I will see how much more It can go when things cool off tonight. Here is my score at 425/365 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7068456 BTW Colossus, I`m not posting any scores for the data base yet and is this a good OC for a 9800np with stock cooling.

That seems like a very nice O/C for a 9800np. My pro wouldn't get too much higher than both your clocks with stock cooling. You've gotta be loving it.:)Quote:

Yep, I`m like a little kid with a new toy.:D but I know when to stop before I hurt it. ;) Right now I`m thinking of getting some better cooling for it, like a Vantec Iceburg 4 Pro cooler.Quote:

Put some Ceramique or AS3 on the core and see what that does for you ;)
Thought you were gonna get some Buffalo RAM? Are the newer pc3700s bh5 or ch6 chips?
I was going to order 2 512mb sticks of Buffalo PC3200(winbond) and a 2500+, but I desided it would be better to get the 9800np instead before they vanished. ;)Quote:

Hey I just ran the 3d marks and got a scarry score compared to all of you.... heres the link http://service.futuremark.com/servle...jectId=7069788
Nothing overclocked all stock. started at 34C and ended at 37C Im useing a Zaleman 6000 for cooling and 512 pc2700 spectec ram running in dual channel mode. Anything else??

Yes, but now, I`m wishing I had the ram and 2500+ also:D I`m also thinking of getting some cooling for it. Either the Vantec Iceburg 4 Pro or the thermaltake Giant 11 with some good ram sinks.;) :)Quote:

Its not two bad, I`ve desided to get what I have listed above and then I`m going to take a 18 month rest from doing anymore upgrades and mainly playing games.;) Although when I get everything together, I will be trying for 20K before I take my extended vacation. :DQuote:

I can go with that, breaking 20k's like the Holy Grail for us lowly OCers - ranger, V man and C man are a bunch of nutz :eek: - so go for 20k and take a well-deserved break after that!:) I've achieved my goal so you won't see me benching anymore - not until A64FX51 and nForce3 mature, and ATI's R420 Loki with PCI Express(I think) is available. *drool* $5k, is that $5k USD? You could get like 4 prommies and cool everything (find a way to cool your ram or something) and then still have money left over for an awesome rig!

20k on a 9800np is at least as hard as 16k on a ti4200, you will need very high fsb(220+) and like 2.5GHz+ on the barton, dual channel, 1:1 at 2-2-2-5 ram timings and a nice overclock on the 9800 for 20k marks. those last 2k is a long way to go. for me, even getting to 15k will be a monumental fest. If the ram I get doesnt work or cut it, guess ill just give it a rest and wait till mid 2005 for the a64 to mature and be cheap then just dive for 20k on my ti4200 :cool:

Come on I get over 14k with a 100% stock setup!
And 20k on a 9800NP is very easy.. Since a nice flash would change it to a 9800Pro and the overclocking potential is just as great...
How does, flashing a 9800np to a pro help it to OC more.Quote:

Edit to add : What's really holding me back is the fact that I want to have a giant leap in 3D gfx and 'Loki' seems to be card to get. Hopefully 'Loki' will do what the venerable 9700Pro did for gfx cards/3D gaming.:)
