oh...and the reason i am still responding (and not reformatting/installing) is because i'm downloading the new vid card drivers. what do you guys think are the best?
edit - fixing stupid mistakes...
yea 128mb ti4200s dont clock very good, its hard to get much past 500MHz on the ram. also youd need both high fsb and MHz. I predict youd not make past 14k with your rig, sorry :(
"I actually found that the driver version 40.72 gave me the best 3D Mark scores"
same here, except for the fx cards obviously. even the geforce2's like the 40.72
"ahhhhh.......i just want 20k, thats all i want!....20 damn k.....but nooooo.....19.9k is the freakin highest i can seem to get....can't winter come now!?!?!?!"
if you can push your barton(duron?) up half a multiplier more 20k is yours. You may need really high voltage like I did but if you got the high end cooling like I do, it might work for short periods :)
******by the way C, my core is 300MHz, not 310 :)
Well, T-Bird keep on going, I`m out of the race for a while my bio`s on my NF7 MB just went south and I`m thinking about returning it and switching over to Intel.
Sorry to hear it. Did this just happen now? What were you doing? I heard that changing lots of stuff while running a high FSB will do this... So far I've been fine, though (POSTed at 230fsb).Quote:

TRAITOR!!!Pfffft! :D :D :D Just kidding, dude!:D Sorry 'bout your bad experience with the mobo, have fun (and better luck!;) ) with the Intel rig when it's ready.;) :) That's why I have both, so far, I goshdarn happy with both....NO!!NO!! NO!! I'll always luv ya AMD!:p I'm going schizo here!:eek:Quote:

Usually, I just change one or two things in bio`s and the saving changes to bio`s come up and then it reset the computer as usual and when it come up it was beeping so I reset and helt down on the insert key, but it did not work this time, I also shut off the power to the MB and cleared cmos and still nothing. So my problem is should I order another bio`s chip and an extrator for $35. or just return the MB and take that money and save up and get a P4 2.8c and a good OCing MB.Quote:

If I were you, I'd just return it (as long as the restocking fee isn't crazy) and save up for the P4 rig - it's always fun to try something new, and I'm sure I don't have to tell you that the P4's are crazy OCers right now. :)Quote:

It will take me two months but I think it is worth it. ;)Quote:

Edited to just say, I might try a 8rda+, before going Intel, it seems I`m jinxed when it comes to Abit Nforce 2 MB`s.Quote:

ahhh...so that's why. i was curious about the ocing. i was seeing the 64mb versions getting way better than me. oh well. such is life. to run without artifacts i can push my card to 310.5 core and 526.5 mem so i guess i might just have to live with that (and maybe a few artifacts as well if i want to get higher). i've actually already made it past 14k. gotten up to 14194. i know i can push it farther but that is going to take reformatting and installing win2k. i just don't have any time right now!!! and i was going to do it last night... :( oh well...i will get to it eventually.Quote:

so the 40.72's seem to do good. thanks for the info...i will make sure i have those before proceeding.
i'm using the 8rda+ right now and i really like it. i've had good results so far, so i would recommend it to ya! either way you go...have fun! :)Quote:

omg!!!!!!!! you got 310 on the core!!!!!!!! what kind of insane cooling and v mods are you using? man 310MHz!!!!!!! mine did 300MHz and its using a big thermaltake fan and copperheatsink for that, otherwise id probably have 280 core on stock cooling. 525 is acceptable for 4ns ram, if you do a v mod you can get a little more. anyway I wouldnt sweat it, 3dmark likes a fast core also 128mb may come in handy for tomorrows games. can you publish and link ur score?
Hmmm... my MSI Ti4200 128MB (AGP4X version) did 306/595.... all stock cooling...:p
Omg when my new power source comes in (hahah the old one (generic 300w) basically exploded inside it's case) and I get enough time to download that 177mb file on 56k (lol) I am going to be all over this club :) I expect some good numbers too!
:( Sometimes, getting a good mobo is akin to crap shoot, sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not.;) So far my NF7-S hasn't let me down YET! Maybe I got lucky, just like my MSI mobo, so far, it's great but I can't OC it yet as I don't have the CoreCenter CD which would allow me to OC it. Then i would really know how bad it is....bad in a good way or bad in a bad way.:p :D Best of luck in whichever direction you choose to go, dude!;) :DQuote:
