What is wrong with it????
I am happy that you finally got that extreme low temps :)
I know how upset you were with that other one :( but atleast it all worked out in the end!
I am not trying to compete with your MACH I, Since a simple A/C unit cannot go that low (well maybe if I ripped it apart!) :D
Oh, I have a surpise left :D I am board #4 arriving in a 2 weeks :D
So get those mini-reviews up already! ;) What with this faulty motherboard, the RMA will take a while... It would be so freaking nice to have a P4 setup in the meantime (and maybe permanently after that :)).Quote:

Btw, it IS possible to create a complete phase change unit from an AC unit... If you really want to do it, it's fairly simple. :) I'm thinking of buying a cheap AC unit to cool my NB for if/when I get that Canterwood board... ;)
I think an AMD setup needs that kind of cooling over a Intel Canterwood board... But a decent aftermarket heatsink or a water cooled NB or if you want extreme, a Pelt/Water cooled NB is more then enough for that little chip :)
I know that my portable unit is mostly just empty space.. I can open the side panel and see all of it.. And the blower fan blowing out... Which is not a not a regular fan... I forget what they are called... It is long and round with fan blades... I keep thing its called a blower or a something like that... Ugh, this is bothering me! :D

I guess I'm just looking for an excuse to build my own phase change system... :) Btw, I'm getting "Alpha"'s (the first Prometeia) return and cap tube replaced and filling it with R404. -85C, here I come. :)
Do you think the CPU or video card would benefit from more from such low temps? I'd think it would be the CPU, but macci and opp both have R404-powered phase change units on their GPU's.
With an AMD, I would say the processor... But you wont hit -80c :D
Maybe -50c is about right...
I know they use two phase change or more... But you need to somehow mount it... I personally dont like those kinds of overclockers... I dont like everything out in the open and they use a very large C clamp to mount the head to the video card....
I dont know... I just prefer a computer to be 100% enclosed...

Btw, I'm a pretty good writer - if you send the pros, cons, and facts to me, I can dress them up and elaborate. :) Especially if we're talking about the 8KNXP (hint hint :D).
Today's as good a day as any... And if I'm going to be sending away my NF7-S today, it sure would be nice to find a P4 mobo in my mailbox on tomorrow or tuesday... :D
No I ONLY did that when benchmarking to hit a slightly higher core/mem... I bought it to keep the office cool, since having so many computers in the office is producing a lot of heat!
I cannot keep the temps stable, the rest of the house is around 72f while the office is at 79f or higher...
So I bought it to keep my room at 70c or lower :D I like it cold!

Well since I am having the cap and return tube replaced, I can specify lengths (well, relative lengths). I'm probably going to get a pretty long tube so that Alpha will sit under Beta and still be able to reach the CPU if I need it to. Also, if I want, I CAN fit two fully insulated return and cap tubes through the hole in Beta. :) so a closed system is certainly not out of the question.
Btw are you going to PM those reviews pros/cons or what? Don't make me hold my breath for nothing. :)

xDUCK, you need to lengthen your capillary tube to run R404 in it properly. Also, from what I hear, R404 is hard on the compressor and you shouldn't run it like that 24/7. That's just what I hear. You might want to check over at XS some more on the R404 conversion.
Also, My Review on the PC-4000 is finally up. I didn't have time to go as in depth as I wanted and cut it short just to get it posted. I just haven't had much spare time lately.:)

The idea above does sound interesting.. But some more pics would be nice... So where are they??? :D You said after you got your setup running and you said it is :D :D
How are the two prommies going to sit on each other??? Are you cutting a hole in the top prommie to route the head through???

I know I'll need to lengthen the cap tube - I did say I'm having it replaced, though, didn't I? :) I've been reading the XS forums (and posting a bit too, with the help of 1800XP's account) so I'm pretty much decided. AFAIK, though, R404 shouldn't be that much harder on the compressor. I'm guess I'll have to double check, though - don't want a dead prometeia deja vu :eek:.

I heard that R404 is very hard on the compressor too... Not sure about the 24/7 run unless it has some very good cooling I guess...
