No it wouldn't upset me. Just getting to CL2 isn't enough, they need to get it below 2-7-4-4 for me to get excited. It's the 4-4 which hurts. 3-3 or 2-2 and I'd want to switch.
I don't care anyway. I'll just buy new stuff and sell the old as usual.:D
Yes it does confirm. Although your calculations were off, you were mostly right, memory timings still make a significant difference.:)Quote:

I run my PC3500 at 2-2-2-5 :)
But we'll have to wait until the official annoucement to see what settings will be default :D

I was talking to a buddy of mine a few minutes about about PC4000 and he told me that if you are going to go with PC4000 dont get the IC7 series board... Even the new IC7-G MAX3... They seem to suffer from some 1:1 over 250Mhz FSB which should be DDR500...
I dont know if it has to do with the NB cooling or whatnot.. But that is a very interesting thing...
Vert: Did you have your board at 250Mhz FSB 1:1 ????

It is not enough to call it pc4000(250fsb?) if the timings suck!
The best ram I know is pc3200 at 2-2-2-5-t1 or pc3500 at 2-3-3-6-t1 all the other higher ram have such bad timings its no better than pc3200 anyway. pc4000 at 2-2-2-5-t1 would be GODLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it could be great for 1:1 on pentium4s or perhaps for guys who v mod their nf2 mobos and somehow get it to 250fsb :eek: I was told the nf2 mobo can do as high as 300fsb if you v mod and watercool the northbridge but with todays ram, most people cant get past 220fsb!
The problem is with all IC7 boards and will be fixed with a new BIOS according to Abit.
The problem is that the board will not post at 1:1 over 255fsb. You are fine up to and including 255 but not over.
However you can achieve higher by booting at 255 and then using software to increase the clock. So the problem is a BIOS issue which will be resolved.:)
And I can guarantee you that the SPD timings on the new PC-4000 will not be 2-5-2-2. At best they will be 2-7-3-3.;)

Yes timing does matter, but Lets take my PC3500 for example.. The best I can get it to with 2.5CL is DDR480 speeds... Now that is not that impressive but I am voltage limited here :D
Now with another stick of PC4000 that does 2.5CL but can be pushed to DDR500 or more... That would a big difference... But it means more to Intel then AMD... Since Intel uses the memory bandwidth better... IMO AMD DCDDR sucks :( They should be scoring much higher then under 3500 in Sandra :(

But I feel at best they might even have the same settings as the PC3500 and it would be 2-3-3-6 not -7 :D
But that doesnt mean it WONT run at 2-2-2-5 :) I just said It could run at that settings.. I never said they would release it at those :D

OMG OMG!!!!
I was watching this cheesy A+ exam prep... MAN I never knew how Pro Intel it was!!!!
He was proving how superior Intel is to AMD... So he powered up the Intel 1.7Ghz without a heatsink... It went to 150f and powered off... Then he did it to an AMD 1700+ and it went to 550f and fried!!!
What he didnt want to enable the temp sensor on the AMD board???
But if anyone want to host the files are 5MB each *lol*

I admitted a while ago it couldnt live up to its ratings. anyway will there be good pc4000 ram, like 2-2-2-5-t1 later on? also wheres the 13k you bragged about on a ti200 that did 210/470? like I said youd not get past 11k on that dude LOL ;)

That's because the AXP's FSB bandwidth it so much and that's limiting the RAM bandwidth. And what you get with Sandra is a combination of FSB bandwidth and memory bandwidth.Quote:

One thing you can try: the Sandra buffered test is waaaay biased. Try it unbuffered and I bet you'll see a much closer range between a nForce2 platform bandwidth and a 865/875 platform bandwidth.
