I agree 100% with this.

The Dolphins are my team. But they messed up... not necessarily because they "missed" on Ginn, but because they could have traded down and got him anyways... and aquired more picks in the process.

I remember when the Raiders drafted Janikowski (kicker) in the first round. I remember not really thinking that he'd be a bust... just that they could have traded waaaay down and ended up with him anyways. A 1st round pick on a kicker was stupid.

Same with the 'Fins here.

Ginn says it was "a gift from god" that he was chosen before Quinn.....whatever that means.

I do agree with your statement. I also look forward to this years madden. It looks like it might be good. Weather effects games, better blocking, running and quarterback play. The lateral !!!!

As for the Raiders, it looks like they went after special teams players more then the O help that was needed. Sure hope that TE works out. I've heard he is slow and not a good run blocker. I wonder who they are aiming for after the June 1st cuts. They must have an eye on some players. We need help on O something fierce.

yea I saw that. I don't know. Every year someone says the cardinals are going to the playoffs. Who knows. Thats whats great about the NFL.

Everyone said he's easily a first round talent if he's healthy, but I don't think he was even able to have a pro day or anything like that. A couple weeks before the draft, he sent out a DVD of himself doing some exercises and such, but no one had even seen him work out in person, so he was a big risk. I personally wouldn't trust him behind the Raider's O-line, but if he had been available late 3rd or early 4th, I would probably have taken him if I was on a team.

Az has a ways to go to be able to run with Seattle, and SF might be the most improved team in the nfc. The niners will be surprising some people.

Yea... no kidding.

The biggest problem with the Cards is that they have an owenr who refuses to spend money.

Year in and year out they are well below the cap. Until that philosophy changes, it'll be the same ole same ole.

That being said, I have noticed a few things:

1. The Cardinals have spent some money recently on high profile players. Edgarin James comes to mind. While this may well be an isolated incident that isn't indicative on how they spend money on the WHOLE team, I do think that it's an anomolly from past behaviour (i.e. they were cheap with EVERYONE).

2. The Cards do have some making of a team on the rise. I think their pick of Leihart was brilliant. The Raiders should have made that pick last year instead of Huff at FS. They have brilliance at the WR position. And it looks like they mayu have been addressing the O Line (which was probably the single biggest weakness on their offense). So I think that for the first time in a long time that there is potential for them. I think that they have a number of players who are the real deal.

The biggest laugh in recent Cardinal memory was when Jake Plummer became their starting QB... and people were making the comparison to Joe Montana based off his #16. That was just sheer idiocy.

The Cards suck. Ive never heard of them being good. **** Jake Plummer.

I'm glad I jumped on the Niner's bandwagon before the 2006 season started. I have a feeling that they're going to be the chic pick to be a "surprise team" this year, so I should be ahead of the curve on this one. :)

it's the "new" effect... SD did it with ryan leaf, his jerseys flew out of stores... giants did it with Eli, now the browns are doing it with quinn... oh and the raiders with russell....

I agree with you... but only to a point.

Ryan Leaf was a failure... no question about it. The jury is still out on Eli... but he has shown some level of sucess. Quinn and Russell nobody knows for sure... but given the failure rate of drafted QBs... in all probability they will fail.

And even then... there is something to be said about the team or the system that you're in.

Vinny Testaverde looed like the worst QB ever in TB. But the moment he got to at least a decent team in the Browns he looked at least respectable. And he turned out a decent career out of things. For example, the Redskins won a Super Bowl with Mark Rypien at the helm... a one armed chimp could have guided that team to the Super Bowl.

With the Cards, I really do think that there is some good reason for optimism... Leinhart had a pretty good season actually for a rookie QB behind an awful offensive line. I think that there is hope for him. That being said, it has a lot to do with the team and the system as well. If the Cards never get a decent offensive line, Leinhart will never be Joe Montana.

A player is influenced by his environment.

doesn't have anything to do with them being bad, busts, or good.

people worship the new QB like he is the second coming regardless... they are fools, then they get mad when their picture shows up on the internet of them wearing a ryan leaf jersey giving a thumbs up sign.

quinn should be decent, russell? i don't know... he leapfrogged everyone after the sugar bowl and came out of nowhere - he might be warren moon, or doug williams.
