Right-click the F@H folder within Startup and left-click Properties. Add the tags on the end of the Target line. Make sure to include spaces. Welcome to the team. :)Quote:

Hey BlueOval, I haven't been watching too closely, but I see that you have definitely moved up on the production scale. Number 9 for the team, very nice! My production is slipping do to some of my computers being down due to heat, connectivity, and location. I now only have 7 going. I had a mighty 16 at one point. Oh well, you come and go... at least I am still trying unlike a lot of the members we lost. Perhaps a contest is in order? Might boost sharky folders?

-advmethods I can no longer recall and no longer use as it was mentioned a while back that using it since Stanford adjusted the way points were tallied may hurt your production
-verbosity 9 just adds added info to the log
That's an idea. Anything to boost production and/or get more people involved. Although with the top 5 responsible for over a third of team points per day I'm not sure how you'd structure a contest.Quote:

The three commonly used are:
-forceasm
Instruct the core to use SSE/3DNow assembly instructions if possible, even if it has previously made the determination that the machine may not be handling this well.
-forceSSE
On machines with an AMD processor, Core_78 gives priority to 3DNow over SSE -- this overrides that.
-advmethods
Request to be assigned work units from new projects, before they are broadly released to the rest of Folding@home.

I was getting tinkers like crazy until yesterday. Now all I'm getting is these 20 and 40 point WU's. Driving me insane.
I loaded two older boxes last nast with the new 5.0 version of Folding - and them up to do only dealineless units in batches. I set them to only run at like 30% CPU power. The first unit working on both was a /20. I noticed when I first opened the graphical client it showed what I thought was a finish date. I did not really pay attention to it on the first box - and then I could not get it to open with that information. I am hoping that all of those I put on those boxes will be small unit, small points.:)

I installed the 5.0 console or GUI on a bunch of my rigs today (saving only the work folder, queue.dat file, client.cfg file) and all installs started up where they left off with no lost work. I also deleted all the cores to get the newest ones.
Something weird seems to be going on with my folding processes. I have two folding sessions set up as processes on my box and they have been working perfectly fine for a long time. Today I was going through my Task Manager as saw one instance of FahCore_78.exe is using over 88MB of RAM. The other instance of FahCore_78.exe is using only 216K of RAM. My folding logs don't seem to show anything odd. What do you think is going on?

Hello all. Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member of the folding team. My user name for folding is "Trash_Man." Probably shoulda used the same name as my forum name... but I've been using Trash_Man for years playing FPS games online and didn't think about matching it to my forum name until after I signed up.
One question... is there any way to see the "point value" of the work unit you are working on? I didn't see anything in the log, and the "current unit" file doesn't mention anything about it either.
Oh.. one more question... do the work units have HUGE variance? I did a 24 point unit in about 3 hours. It says it's gonna be 11 days before I finish this one I'm on now?
I'm worried that somehow my computer is choking on this one, because it seems like too big of a variance from one work unit to the next.

Two questions:
1) I used to run something similiar to this (or the same?) quite some time ago. I stopped doing when it got leaked that the place the results were going to were testing on animals (which was precisely why we were folding or however it was called back then - to LOWER the amount of actual tests needed, especially on animals). I guess Stanford is okay, but I'm not touching this until someone can verify 100% that they do not conduct animal tests.
2) The "how to set up" guide lost its images, apperently. Repair anyone? :s
I'm quite familiar with the science behind this project and can assure you 100% that this project in no way involves or uses animals. I would not be involved if it were otherwise. These projects simply simulated the way that various small strands of nucleic acids go from a linear state to a functional 3D folded state over a very short period of time, i.e. a few to a few thousand nanoseconds.Quote:

The install is quite simple now -- just download the 5.0 graphic client from HERE. Then simply install it as you would any other program. If you have a P4HT processor, two console clients are somewhat more efficient -- if that is the case I can wlak you through the set up.
