Since we have three games tomorrow, should we start the pick 'em today?

Actually, I guess it may already be a little too late, but I'll put up picks tomorrow morning, whether we have a spread or not.

I coin flipped just for fun after I made the picks, and surprisingly it agreed on everything except Cleveland and Philadelphia. Also, I have no confidence in my Philadelphia pick whatsoever and have no idea why I'm taking them in this one.

wow-- i guess picking Dallas was a good idea.:p

btw, does Detroit have a pass rush at all? That would be the best way to knock GB over, rather than going 'prevent' and getting picked apart. The lions had enough offense to win, but not enough defense to keep them from losing.

I don't think we'll see a 2 loss team in the NC, especially if Kansas wins out against Missouri. Not with the field of 1 loss squads still remaining. Of course anything can happen and has this season...
Plus, the loss to Stanford at home is a dagger. Everyone knows if they played again it wouldn't even be close, but it's hard to live down a loss to a 40 point underdog on your home field. I think that more than anything keeps them out of contention.

I was glad to see LSU go down, honestly. Not that I don't respect them and the squad they have, but they've just been involved in way too many extremely close squeakers and last second come backers against average teams (Alabama, Kentucky (L), Arkansas, Auburn to name a few) that while some will argue their only losses have been extremely close 3OT slugfests, it's only fair to mention their several sloppy, unimpressive wins as well.

I'm fairly confident Missouri will win tonight, and I am much more confident that no matter who wins that game, they will lose to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship.

Now that I've said that, queue OU losing to OSU today... :D

Funny, detroit had enough offense to win once GB themselves went into a prevent defense. Until that point they had managed a meager 12 points. I'm not sure what game you watched, but it doesn't seem to be the one that everyone else did. GB called 17 straight pass plays at one point and Favre completed 20 in a row...how could you do anything but keep people in pass protection? That's what 5 receiver sets do...spread the field and make you rush 4...unless you want to leave a gaping hole open downfield.

It's also worth noting Detroit has the 30th ranked pass defense. They haven't stopped anyone, so I'm not sure it had as much to do with figuring out how to beat GB as figuring out how to play good pass defense.

Lol, okay. We'll see how that goes against teams that can rush the edge while still being decent in coverage. You'll be sending five wr's while Favre gets his head taken off.

Not sure about that...Favre just seems to be "on" this year..and when he does make a bad decision his receivers are making some tough catches and bailing him out. they look like a real good team, every bit as good as Dallas IMO. Should be a good game.

I won't dispute that, GB is at the top of the pile.

But, I was asking for opinions on Detroit's pass D to better gauge how other teams could have more success against them by being more aggressive, rather than hoping the coverage will bail them out on every down. Obviously that strategy didn't beat GB.

The problem is detroit just does not have enough talent on defense . Look what the Eagles did to them, they did try and put pressure on in that game, actually got a few sacks and forced a QB fumble, and still got lit up pretty bad.
Now, I know this is going back a while to week one, but the eagles got some pressure on Favre and GB did absolutely nothing offensively. However, also much better secondary as well.

he's listed at 230lbs, weighed in at 260 - they worked him out then signed him, came back again at 271.... what the ???????

I agree. We have to see what Favre does against another good secondary before we get too crazy. Detroit's pass D is just awful. The cowboy's pass defense isn't rated very highly either (20th) but the cowboys will probably put up more points than GB's recent opponents, forcing Favre to make more plays. Should be an excellent game though I think Dallas wins it handily.
