Great defense, or kick returning, does not often translate to offense.
Dale Carter? Not impressive. Dana Hall? Not impressive. Deon Sanders? Not impressive.
Can the Bears use him as a role player on offense (i.e. slot receiver)? Maybe.
But I'm sure not holding my breath for a 100 catch, 1,400 yard season with 12 TDs.
He hasn't even really established himself as a prime time defensive player yet.
His fame is all on kick returns.
There were a pretty decent number of people doing it, just nobody that anyone remembers. Just like how no one will remember Troy Brown from the Patriots doing it a couple years down the road.Quote:

I think that he was serviceable... but he sure wasn't an All Pro at the position.

He strikes me as the kind of guy that needs some help to fit into a game plan (such as with Lendale White in college, and McAlister in New Orleans). Maybe help isn't the right term, but I can't really put words to exactly what I'm thinking. Basically, he doesn't seem like a guy that can be a true #1, carry the team kind of guy, but when he has the proper support, he gets a disproportionately positive boost (compared to most other players) from it because he can do a lot of different things well.Quote:

he is definitely a better receiver, and I said that way before he was the leading receiver... everyone knows who he is, his reputation precedes him....ultra fast guy with crazy moves, so everyone is ready - they are at defcon 1 when the dude hits the field so when they smell run they stack the box and he gets NOWHERE... defenses and some individual defenders took it as a challenge, everyone hyped him up as the next barry sanders so they had his name on the top of the list... he has much better success when he can get out into the open field THEN get the ball instead of the other way around, he is pretty quick and when he hits the open field he can make a lot of guys miss, but he isn't gonna be much as a RB in my estimation, maybe i'm wrong but I would be playing the guy as a receiver 90% of the time

I haven't seen much, but from what I have bush doesn't shineas a true rb that gets the ball ahnded to him and goes. I saw him in college like everyone else and I'm not all that impressed with the transition to the nfl. ILike vai said he's good in open space when he gets the ball. I'm definitely all for giving himj a couple of more years to show what he can do. But he doesn't have the speed he did in college in the nfl. I'm not saying he's slow, but the speed of the game lessens his quickness a little. He reminds me of a brian westbrook, who I dislik ebecause he's on the eagles, but he's a great player. They're both less of a running back, more receiving, at least bush is for now with deuce playing. I really wouldn't be surprised if bush blew up though next season.

I think putting Hester on offense is a great idea. Why not try it? Also how many receivers had those numbers? 2-3? I think if he has 30-40 catches, 500 yards and a few scores he can still be a huge difference maker. Its all about causing match up problems and making the other team use all kinds of time game planning for things, ala Reggie bush and WestbrookQuote:

I'm ranting here but I hate jets fans. Two of my good friends are jets fans, and they like the so called "experts" question jacobs being able to carry the load. It''s a legit question but I doubt him and droughns will somehow fails to carry tiki's rushing yardage. Besides that jacobs has good agility for his size, and the past 2 seasons jacobs was told to run into defenders instead of avoinding them. So he's really more than a power running back. I'm not a big eli fan, but I really hate when they talk bad about him when the jets are built around mr. pennington who cannot throw more than 20 yards. Such a joke, I really can't wait for the pats to tear the jets up, or the giants to shut the jets up.

I feel as a runner he is severely underrated. He has the onus of being too small, which is BS. Either you can do it or not, size has little to do with it. Last year he had 1200 yards rushing, a large part of that was after Mcnabb went down and the Eagles actually committed to running the ball. He averaged 5.1 yards a carry, and also caught 77 passes. As far as being a receiver, he is the best receiving back in the NFL. He does not just catch swing passes and screens, he lines up as a receiver often, sometimes on a starting corner, and still can get open.Quote:

Check this video out, and notice he actually runs with good power. Pay special attention to the still arm against the 49ers. The guy is Tiki barber without all the carries. Hopefully he gets 20 carries every game this year. If that happens the Eagles win 13 games.
