i've never seen anyone say that brackets like that are needed, otherwise it's alright.Quote:

Does A64 need the "forceSSE" flag? I would hope that F@h would automatically recognize that K8 can do both SSE and SSE2...Quote:

The SSE option in the lastest cores work for AMD A64s
It "works" but it is also unnecessary. In v5 (and maybe v4, I don't know for sure) SSE automatically takes precedence over 3DNow!.Quote:

Woot, should be adding a P4 Pressy 533FSB chip soon. I hope I can run it at about 3.5-3.6GHZ. I am making a lan rig, and thus I will run FAH 24/7. should shoot my points per day up 100-200:D
Does anyone else run the 5.02 core? I just started using it and my overclocked 2.8e was stable since july at 3.4ghz on everything I did and now 5.02 core locks it up. I had to back my overclock down to 3.1 for it to run without locking up. Any suggestions?
i am still using the v4 core i think. Haven't updated it since spring break last year. :o Try going to an earlier version and see if you still have problems.Quote:

Do you have a link to the v4 core? I need it to install 2 instances of folding as a service on my prescott. I used the program from overclockers.com and then changed the config files with sharkys team info. But they do not have it with v4 anymore only 5.02. If you can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
did some googling. Not entirely sure, but once you install it you'll see if its the right one or not.Quote:

Thanky very much. I now have it up and running. Been folding for an hour now at 3.4ghz.
Finally, server 112 is back online -- just uploaded 40 completed WUs. 300K and folding! :D
I just added a third rig.. should help a little.Quote:

Seems like we are adding members and some like Vengance have really ramped up - but our production just keeps falling per 24 hours.
So instead of working on stuff I should do I decided to look at some numbers for Folding at home stuff.
I know most everyone realizes that we have a small number of users actually folding but I just wanted to post the numbers again. So out of the to 34,406 members at Sharky we have 283 people who have folded and of that 199 active members. That is only .58 PERCENT of the total members of Sharky folding. (With .82 percent having at least tried it.) And of the users who did fold 70.3 percent of us still are. (Great job everyone who is folding.) ~69 pts per active user per day.
So then I decided to look at the team Fórum PCs Brasil there forum says the have 21,781 members and they have 547 users who have folded and 421 active ones. (2.5 percent have folded, and 1.93 percent of their total members are folding. With there percentage of active users to total users being 77 percent.) (Oh and they are folding 13,433 more pts per day than us.) ~ 64.5 pts per active user per day.
Oh and then there is HP, but they don’t count since it is all Scott_H (plus I decided not to do anymore numbers since I really should do something besides this.)
So in other words we are doing well for the people folding, we just need to get more members. (Obviously there are a lot of them here, though how many people actually view these forums per month?) Does anyone have any ideas how we can get more members folding. I mean it isn’t that hard all you do install one thing, put in two values (your name and team 34149) and if you want decided to only do Folding. Then just leave it. I understand people not wanting to have it going when they are gaming, but how hard is it to just turn it off? Or people can just us the screen saver. I am just asking people to look at how much they have their computer and not really using it. (Like for me I really only fully use my computer like 1 hour a day, the rest is just winamp, surfing, and such, nothing that needs a 3.2 AMD.) Ok I am done. Sorry for everyone who has seen this stuff before, but I just had to do it, plus like I said I didn’t want to do any work.
(Oh and I must iterate that all the active members are doing a great job.)
I think that the majority of those sharky members that aren't folding face two problems. The biggest is, they don't know what it is. When I first heard about it, I had no clue. It took me a little over a month to find out about it in detail once I had heard about it. That is not to say that the current folders aren't advertising, but really what I think it is, is that when you as a member on a forum hear about something that you don't know what it is, you don't care about looking into it unless it directly helps you. Then, once you do tell someone about folding, they hesistate because they fail to believe it is real, or they think they could hurt their computer, or they don't want to have their machine running any longer than necessary.
So I think the first thing that could change is that this particular forum should be pushed further into the open, where it is easier for new member to find and learn about. I didn't care to delve into the Sharky Forums to find where this thread was for a while. I only hit the general section and perhaps the vid card, cpu and maybe the mass storage section most of the time. Maybe we could get a "sub-sticky" in each of those bigs sections that explains/advertises folding, but to save server resources, doens't allow posting... instead only has info and links to how people can get started.
Then, I think having contests more often would really help. I think the incentive of earning a personal avatar before hitting 5K posts is really something that Sharky members could get into. Sure, that is a weak excuse to people folding, but it does no harm, and is for the greater good, right?
Just my .02
Nice job all for those who have kept up the good work.
And in order to do this, we need to get the mods and primarily Catalyst to support us. We need the full support of the sharkyforums team and we don't have that right now. It's just kind of a "club" of the regular members right now. Someone should talk to Cat once...Quote:

I agree, Ya I have been busy borging mainly, but my main Rig was having trouble, its back up. But I agree, We need more members. Reason we fell two spots is both those teams had much more users and points per day. Many of the top teams we will never touch is B/C some of them just put up huge numbers. I still think anyone who folds sees how important it can be. Great job to all the folders out there around the world. Edit add an A64 Claw running at 1.8GHZ to my farm. And i hope at the end of november a Presscot core. Might be able to push into the 800 range on PPD;)
I have a 2.56ghz celeron that has been folding since December 13, 2003. It has been folding 24/7, yes 24/7!
Finally the power supply blew out, aurgh! It was a generic one that I've been using for several years, before I upgraded my cpu/motherboard to this one. So I went and spent a few bucks and bought a used on. Back on Folding!
So who here has a machine that been folding for a year plus?
Fedka
I have been folding 24/7 since the start of this team. Only time down was power outtage.
Vengance_01
Man have you really got going. I have been searching for something to "borrow" to keep you off my heels, but it would be futile at this point. I would need 3 more machines folding 24/7 to keep you at bay. Congrats on the increase in production.
Or just get the mod back who started it all. Where the heck is saps..? :(Quote:

hehe, your gonna have more trouble soon, just picked up two Shuttle Ak31's for cheap. Just looking for some cheap Athlons Tbred B cores or new gen durons. I have about 1000 points being worked on as we speak from my personal rigs, not sure about all my borgs.Quote:

I tried to use an AMD 1.2 Duron - but no matter what % I set it too - 10-100 - the system hung, was not stable after leaving it on 24/7, and never would a fold a complete unit. I gave up on it. But I did get 2 points out of it.Quote:

I am getting ready to lose one of my machines that I had folding 24/7. 2.4C @ 3.0 24/7 is moving to no internet connection. That will leave me with my trusty 2.4b 24/7 and a borked 2.6b maybe 18/7 and a part time Celeron.
ouch thats not good, you are one our top producers. We really need ramp up and get more users;)
