i can't break 20k in 2000 with dx 8.1 and cat 3.2's. i max out around 19.8k. i use windows XP with dx9 and omega 3.5's.

Colossus - i think CPU power makes a noticeable difference in '03. look the difference between our scores. you beat my in game one by a ton, but we're almost exactly tied in the other tests, and our video card clocks are about the same.

I'm going to do my best to mount my Prometeia onto this 9800 Pro, but since I have to use a coldplate, it might take a while. :( However, I'm got other avenues of video card cooling available to me for now (SLK-800+120mm Panaflo, etc :D).

lots of luck xDUCK, see if you can be the first amd rig to break 21k. as for hyperthreading, who needs it unless you run a whole bunch of stuff. I can have several windows open with very little slowdown :) and besides Intel cpus cost way more than amds for little performance gains :)

How much of a difference(aprox) does Windows 2000 make in
a amd rig over XP in 3dmark 01'?, just a little?
My best right now is 18252. :(

But it doesnt make a difference :) I score around 5000 with a P2 450Mhz!!!!! :) :)

The above wasnt pointed to me but cpu power does make a difference.
Running at the same o/c on my video card (560 core,983 mem):

This is with my older 2.4c processor

That shows that the processor makes VERY little difference in the score.. I never said it was zero, but if you compare it to 2001.. There is a big difference :)

No offense but I dont think you can get ~500 on 3DMark just based on CPU speed.. I never seen that in my life! I would say something else is affecting those scores :)

The reason why I say that is I went from 2.4c around 5800 - just over 6000 for 3.45Ghz
