that should get me the new socket and RAM to accompany it whether it comes out in early summer or late summer. the reason i have my budget projected in such a way is because i build pc's for kids at my school, and i'm a senior this year, so everyone is going to need a new pc for college. so far i've built 3 this month (getting me the money for A64) and i have at least a dozen other people who have said they will want one at the end of the school year. sorry if that was long/OT, i just thought i should justify my present switch to A64.

hehehe. :D As of now, i have a high score enough to take 3rd place, but i was unable to publish it. Apparently due to a cpu speed fluctuation. so is futuremark saying that i changed my cpu speed during the test?:confused: anyways, its 14734. More to come!;) I do have a screen, but i'd assume that it's not enough to update my score without a published ORB score.Quote:

i was having a problem with my 3dmarks, running 14023 because of cas 2.5 in my memory timings. With tweaking, at 2310, and 7-2-2-2.0 ram timings, it went up 700 points. If only i could publish, i'd be in 3rd place, but ill shoot for 15k this weekend. I hope i dont come off as sounding like tbird, i just thought i ought to 3dmark before i install all of my stuff, like photoshop, etc.:p
EDIT: For the score, i must update some more. I am now running 220 fsb, (220x10), and my cooling has been upgraded to SLK-900A + 80mm Tornado. Otherwise, it's all the same.
That's it!!! I'm benching again this weekend (sorry mikeysg :D) with my newly found 2.58GHz :D I'm still rooting for my generic RAM :D If I can't beat you, fine!!! I'll get new RAM then ;)Quote:

edit: I'm going to be benching in a really cold environment too :D Not that cold, just in my room, 16C room temp :p And I thought I was going to stop benching until christmas :o
Next time, before running benchmark, check 3DMark01 control panel, look for the cpu speed, if it matches - may vary by afew mhz - then, you'd be able to publish your score. If the diff is substantial, you'd most likely be unable to publish your score - usual crap 'due to speed variation'.:) Best of luck shooting for the #3 spot. Go for broke dude! Go for #1!!!:DQuote:

what's this 3dmark01 control panel? I've looked around 3dmark, since i dont have pro, and i cant find it at all. All i have is wcpuid, im so angry that i cant publish, lol.;)
Man, it's been awhile since I ran the tests you know - kinda forgot the exact step. :o OK, before running the test, click 'detail' (the other one's 'benchmark') or some malarkey like that on the 3DMark01 panel. See the details of your setup - check for cpu speed. You should be able to do this as I did it(so many moons ago:o ) with the free d/l version (Yes! I'm cheap!!!:p :D )Quote:

If it doesn't jump over 5MHz (up or down) you're fine
I knida remembered restarting comp sometimes, or simply closing the 3DMark window and restarting the benchmark again. Best is to restart the comp, check the cpu speed - If it varies up to 20mhz (I think, but less is most definitely better) you should be able to publish. If the variation is a wayz off, fuhgedaboudit! :DQuote:

so + or - 5 mhz should be ok? Oh yeah, something weird. my mobo always seems to take away 1 fsb. at 221 fsb in the bios, the BIOS reports it as 220. Therefore, 221fsb = 220fsb. However, wcpuid still reports it as 221fsb. 3dmark reports it as 220. So should i believe the actual bios speed and 3dmark, or the supposed bios speed and WCPUID? stange, computer, maybe a d1.0 bios flash would do well.
I would go with WCPUID/CPU-Z since it even gives you the values to 1 decimal place
Well, I think I've maxed out my 3.0C unless somebody can think of something else I can try. I've max'ed Vcore at 1.9, which is the most allowed in my BIOS, and can't get it over 3.715. It will boot at 3.755, but WinXP freezes immediately. CPU temp never goes above 43c and just to try and find my max, memory is set at 3:2. I've heard these 3.0Cs weren't the best OCers, so I guess I should be happy w/3.715. Suggestions appreciated. Regards . . .

My AMD rig could beat your filthy 3.0C rig any day! I get 20k with my GPU @ stock (and my cpu 250x10, my 24/7 setting)! :pQuote:

1) Does the d10 bios help, and what does it help with?
2) Did you do the L12 wire trick and if so, what did you use to do it? I keep hearing telephone wire, i have no clue what telephone wire is.
These concern me because im looking for total stability at my current setting, 220x10.5 for 2310, and so far, its only stable enough to run 3dmark.
