AFAIK, the running of two Folding instances can only be done with the console version. I've gotten it to work, but it's fairly problematic compared to the GUI version.

Getting it to work may or may not be worth it to you though. According to the Folders over at Xtreme systems:

HT on and HT off will fold at the same speed with 1 instance
HT on with 2 instances increases production 15 - 20%

I know it can be done via console, I have done it with the console.. When I was experimenting earlier... But Im not using Console now :)

I completed 2 WU's already and I am not showing up on the team?

I just lost half of a 500 :mad: :mad: :mad:

I ran it a work yesterday, with slow progress because the laptop went into standby. Got home, fixed the standby issue and let it run overnight. It was loged in to my work domain with cached credentials. I had 250+ at 4am when I packed up for work. Got here and logged into the domain. The work unit started at 60, the same place it was when I left work yesterday. Then it reset to 0 :mad: :mad: :mad:

I'm not sure what the heck caused it to do that. Any ideas?

My computer sat idle most of the night - Norton Firewall blocked the client from connecting to the server. Oh well, it's fixed now.

I'm in. I dont always have my pc on, but 100% of my idle time will go towards folding.

Check your log file for errors and make sure you used 34149 for the team number. They should have shown up on the team site by now.

I checked it 3 times!!!!

I can even click on TEAM (in the software) and it will take me to the SF team site.... But yet I am still not on it :(

EDIT: But I might give up on folding and go back to SETI... my systems have been acting weird with the folding client.. Such as black bars in the bubble info text (hover over items in taskbar)

I had ICQ running and Folding... But when I moved the mouse over the ICQ taskbar it said Folding@home but when I moved my mouse over the red folding icon in the taskbar it said ICQ...

Plus I didnt find a way to run the GUI client with HT or MP setups.. Command prompt only from what I have read...

oh wow. I get those black bars and stuff too every since i installed folding. I never thought to relate the two though. I'm not the only one....:( :confused:

Edited: I found a Colossus on the data base with no team number listed, that has completed a 683 and a 543, could this be you. Click on the F@H icon and got to configure, to see if you have the team number listed there.

How many Seti units do you have now?

Speedy and all I get the black bars too. Small price to pay and they don't bother me. Perhaps v4 will fix that.

Colossus perhaps you should go back to console then even though I encouraged you to go to graphical. If you're certain you're on team 34149 I'd say wait a bit longer sometimes it seems the first WU you do takes a long time to register. After your first it seems to take about 30 minutes for stanford to update your progress.

Also I've just gotten the approval from Catalyst on a custom avatar contest for the folding team. I'll have a sticky up later today with details.

Well, I had a weird thing happen, I shutdown my computer like I usually do and when I restated it, I find instead of it taking up where it left off, it has stared all over again. There was no errors or nothing it just started the WU all over again and I lost 40% of work done, which equates to 8rs. :( Anyone know what could have caused this. Edit to add: to heck with it, I`m going to folding 24/7.:)

Is this your main right you're doing 24/7? I might almost have to match that and go 24/7 myself...I hate being passed up... :( I just worry that i'll shorten the life of my hdd by running it 24/7 and other components...

My one and only rig, right now. ;) all I need to get a second one going is a hard drive.:) I don`t think it will hurt anything as long as you keep your computer cool.

You're HDD will be fine. You might have to back down slightly from your max OC though for 24/7 folding. Still if you were at say 2.5 24/7 that'd be pretty sweet. Conquer On

Yes your CPU would easily live for at least 5 years at 2vcore as long as your temps are good and consistent.

Speedy 3-4 years are you kidding; we both know you'll upgrade long before then. I'm doing 2v 24/7 and when I get my Antec back I'll probably go back to 2.1v if its stable if not then still at this 2v. You've got the cooling and its winter. Conquer On

Thanks saps, but i'm a bit of a worrier. I am in college, and not from a rich family. I really don't think i could afford a new mobo, ram, and cpu to upgrade anytime soon....I do have the cooling, i'll admit to that. But i've never had the experience to show if it will last for a few years yet...so i'm trusting whatever you say, saps.:p So 2.5 at 2vcore 24/7 then? I hope you're right....

Overall, I think it's f-ing awesome how good sharky is doing. Makes me even prouder to be part of the team and the forum.

We can measure WU's and Points very easily we cannot measure your piece of mind however. If you're more comfortable at say 2.4Ghz and 1.9vcore than by all means drop down; afterall that's only a 4-5% difference. I am fairly certain you'd be OK at 2.5 and 2 but whatever makes you happy. 24/7 Folding is very taxing so you might need to back down anyway.

There is a great sense of pride and unity isn't there. That's the main reason Catalyst gave the OK. Anyway, our output the past 7 days is greater than 16 top 100 teams; and we're still not at full strength yet. We'll crack that top 1K in about 12 hours methinks and then do a Helms Deep on the top 250. Conquer On

i know, i thought about that, and that's the other reason for going 24/7. I'm probably going to go to 2.4ghz(currently at 11.5x200, my dailing running speed) very soon too. :D

I have been running mine at 2.4ghz(12x200)@1.85v`s and have not had no problems so far.
