Congratulations to Spank Me Hard for 2 wins in a row.
Congrats spank me hard. At least I'm not last this week.
F'in Raiders. :)
Well I guess I can consider the Riaders undeafeated in 2008 now? Fresh slate. Lots of new faces. Will Ryan be fired (I hope not)? Will Fargas or Porter be back (I hope not). Will they draft a good wideout?
Damn! I wasn't keeping track this week, but didn't think that my picks looked good yesterday...
See that Parcells has started cleaning house in the 'Phins management. With their awful drafting the past few years... it can't come soon enough.
Would like to see Parcells can Cameron and pickup the newly employable Billick.
I say SF Defense cooardinator is Falcons new coach. I think that martz will be SF coordinator. Rex Ryan will land back at Raven's , maybe as coach. Billick will land somewhere, but probably not as head coach. I hope for positive changes at Raiderland. Baby coach has a better idea of what to fix. Dump some older players. Let Porter go. Let Fargas go. Let Jordon go. Keep Rhodes. Use Bush. Draft another RB in the 3rd round. Fix the d and special teams. Draft a good wide out in the 1st round or get a good free agent. Something like a wes walker across the middle or a deep threat. Or both.
Do we get a year end grade? I'm towards the bottom, but still want to know the rankings.
Here's the overall results:

I had to make it a separate page since I don't know how to do tables in vbb.
Spank_Me_Hard had the highest overall average and I had the highest overall score (mainly because me and r'aggro were the only 2 people to play every week).
Highest single week score, baby! WHOO!Quote:

Ok the Lions are a disaster. Has anyone followed what went down with Martz? They fired Martz and promoted Jim Colletto to O.C. and Kippy Brown to "passing game director", "assistant head coach", and "running backs coach".
Ok first Jim Colletto has like a 30-80 record at the college level for OC and above. Second what the crap are they doing with Kippy Brown?! Third, tell me this doesn't sound like more Lions idiocy. The owner of the team never speaks. The GM is 31-81! Are you kidding me? Never in the history of the league has a GM kept his job after doing such a terrible job, let alone had job security.
I will now go through Matt Millen's draft record, this will amaze you.

I count between 6-8 players who are between good players and at least contribute out of 47 picks. So lets be generous and say 10/47 are at least contributing to your team out of the last 5 drafts.
How do you go 31-81, have an 80% record of your draft picks be busts, cut, out of football, etc... and keep your job in the NFL? He's not even on the chopping block. His job is not even in question.
His most recent move was trading Dre Bly to Denver for George Foster and Tatum Bell. George Foster was a disaster and Tatum Bell was inactive for most of the season. He traded away one of the best defensive players for nothing, literally.
I don't know if I can take this much longer.
Plus I believe he is the second best paid GM in football. I don't know if he is quite at Isiah Thomas levels of awful, but I find it absolutely stunning that he can hold on to his job given the team's performance.Quote:

The Lions really should have drafted Joe Thomas. And how does a 4 game improvement get Martz fired when their defense gave up the most points in the league?
Cause someone needed to be the fall guy.Quote:

I don't follow the phins, but I'll take your word for it. However the Lions are still the worst team in football over the last 6 or 7 years. Arguably one of the worst organizations in sports.Quote:

The player list is off of NFL's site, the comments are mine. I think its pretty accurate.Quote:

'Phins haven't made the playoffs for like 6 seasons. So I think that they're "tied" in that area. At least this season the Lions were actually competitive at one point.
I'll throw this into the discussion - Dolphins just fired their head coach after only one season. :D
Old defense, new head coach (and all but 2 assistants have been let go as well), new GM. Get ready for another long season next year.
Maybe it's just me being overly optimistic... but I'm counting on yet another one of Parcell's miraculous turnabouts.Quote:

I thought that the Jets that Parcells inherited were absolutely atrocious. He does have a good track record with these things. Mind you... as a coach.
Worst case scenerio... is that there is nowhere to go but up.
How do you fire Mike Martz?!@#?!@#? They guy only turned *JON KITNA* into a 4000+ yard QB and drastically improved the Lions offense.
If anything you fire the defensive coordinator.
Who do you see Miami drafting this year?
As far as the skins go, like I mentioned earlier--I'd rather be playing Minny or the Aints. Washington has a lot of momentum right now and the whole team looks completely jazzed. Meanwhile Seatle has played like they don't care at all since they locked up the division. Our D coordinator is also a weakness. When he calls a conservative game and doesn't get after the QB, we lose games--like against Carolina and Atlanta, two teams we should have stomped. He should just sit in the booth quietly and let Lofa Tatupu run the defense.
That said, the rest of the story doesn't look as good for the skins. Most every individual match up favors the Seattle player, and the seahawks don't lose playoff games at home. If this were @ rfk, the media would be hyping up the skins worse than they already are.;)
The smartest thing Gibbs can do is run the hell out of the ball and tire out our smallish Dline.
Congrats to spank me hard. I am third from the bottom. SO sad.

I hope that they keep Ricky Williams. With Ronnie Brown coming back from knee surgery... I think that having Williams as a backup is important. It's a gamble I know. But a worthwhile one I think.
I'd like to see Miami:
1. Draft a hot QB prospect. Maybe the QB from Hawaii. I hate drafting QBs because of their failure rate... but since Marino has retired... their QB situation has been a joke. Trent Green is at BEST good for another 1-2 years... perfect for a good young QB prospect.
2. I like Dorsey from LSU. And Miami needs help on D. Most D linement don't really start contributing well until a few years... but I love the way the guy plays.
3. Trade the pick down and pickup choices. Miami needs help in a lot of areas. Any extra picks would be well welcomed.
And of course... they need to do better in the free agency market. There is still *some* talent on the team... I'd try to hold onto it (i.e. I hated the Chris Chambers trade).
Washington is playing better than their talent right now. I think that they are inspired to play for Sean Taylor. I had writ them off at mid season... but they have proven me wrong. That being said... I don't see them getting very far in the playoffs. Inspiration usually only takes you so far.
I don't like the Skins matchup vs. the Seahawks either.
The Skins D is pretty good overall... but I think is weaker vs. the pass than the run. Which does them no favours vs. Seattle. I think Alexander is an awesome RB for Seattle... but their running game hasn't been what it's supposed to be. Injuries to Alexander, and worse blocking I think.
Offensively... I like the Skins running game. If they can pound it out (as you mentioned), then I think they have a shot. They have two good running backs in Betts and Portis. And if they pound it out... then the elements in Seattle should be less of a factor (if they are... and I think that they will) AND they will keep Seattle's offense off the field.
I don't like the Skins passing game vs. the Hawks. At all. On special teams... I just have no idea who has the advantage in the matchup. It's not like either team has a Hester on the roster.
Straight up... I think that Seattle wins (as much as it pains me to say so). But here at Sharky's... I'll have to see what the spread is before I decide.
Miami desperatly needs a new QB. QB is the heart and soul of the team and neither Lemon or Beck has done anything to give that team any heart.
I HIGHLY doubt that Trent Green will ever play again. Hes had way too many severe concussions. Theres lots of high quality QBs coming into the draft and Miami needs to pick the best one and get him signed asap. They cant afford another LaStupid Russel debacle and get their pick into as much training camp as possible.
After you get a good QB the team can rally behind then you can focus on the other aspects. Ronnie Brown was a fantasic rusher until his injury and he'll be good to go next fall. If they can get a good WR or 2 to go with their new QB they could have a decent offense.
