Yeah he wanted way too much money based on what he had accomplished up to that point. Of course the raiders where happy to throw money at him..and its one of the 50 times that it happened worked out for him. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.Quote:

Burgess may not have produced much in his regular seasons in Philly... but I remember in the playoffs when the announcers were talking about his potential. Somebody knew something about him (apparently the Raiders among others).
what po'es me about the raiders is the hardly EVER try to make a run at a bigtime free agent... randy moss was a trade, lamont jordan? please... kerry collins? come on.
no run after lance briggs, adelius thomas, T.O, nate clements, leonard davis (for their terrible o-line)

I can count them 4 times, 4 friggen times...terrible free agency performance, and only 2 of those guys are any good, newberry and rhodes.

I stopped taking it fully seriously after Jerry Jones at #2. I completely stopped reading when I saw Dan Snyder was #5.
Again, hindsight. We already had Kearse, so thats a lot of money tied up at defensive end. You can't tie up a ton of money at one position.Quote:

Lets look at the 2004 draft, same teams. Robert Gallery picked second, ended up pretty much sucking. Eagles move up to pick Shawn Andrews at 16, and he is an all pro lineman who just destroys people.

One of the factors with him is that he is on an awful team. The Raiders are forced to call long pass plays all game that requires a lot of 7 step drops for the QB (and the other teams know it and tee off on the QB). The entire O-line is awful (i.e. Gallery gets no help around him). The QBs can't read a defense to save their life, and even if they can the recievers aren't good enough to get open. The result... a lot of coverage sacks.
Gallery may well end up a bust... but I think it's too early to tell at this point.
I have also seen him get beat quite badly on some rushes though.
Gallery is a bust, as a raider fan it's time to suck it up....he has moved around like 3 times, left tackle to right back to left to guard... he's done.
they should move him to DT since he sacks his own QB just as much
