The other aspect of this is that he can be a mentor for Huff (who I'm STILL pissed at the Raiders for taking over Leinhart).
Probably not their most pressing need, but a good pickup I think.
I think they plan to have the three safties interrchangable and sub a lot to keep them fresh and to keep the offense guessing. That is my hope. Or maybe a cobra type d with all 3 safties on the field.

Funny thing is that just a few short years ago they were in the Superbowl.
They had a VERY good team.
Unfortunately, the team was also very old. A few injuries, an awful coach (whom I think both Jerry Rice and Tim Brown... both very classy players... accused of deliberately sabotaging the team), poor management, and aging players have imploded that good team.
They are a shell of their former selves. And I have my doubts that they will rebound this season.
(have they even BEGUN to address fixing their O-Line?)
they got the guy from the 9ers, newberry or something to play on the line, moved gallery....not much, their line blows.
It was a dynasty, especially in the 70's and 80's. They were almost always in the play offs. They won big during prime time. They were in the 2nd superbowl. They had a incedable record during the late 60's, 70's and the early 80's. But since the Jeff George days, the only bright spot was the Gruden/Gannon era. I have high hopes for the new coach, but they are still a work in progress. Next season, we should be more of a contender.
