Great! I'm limping along with a couple of machines down because they heat up my office more than the AC handles well.

The FAH icon has disappeared from the bottom right of my screen

The FAH icon has disappeared from the bottom right of my screen, but the two FAH apps are running in task manager. How can I get the FAH display up?

Reboot? Either that or kill the stuff in Task Manager and launch the client again. I remember seeing that type of thing when I ran the gui client and never really resolved it. Except for on one gpu instance I run console only now so really don't have any current insight on this problem. The gpu gui will go away whenever I loose internet connection (issue resolved), but the whole client ends.

Anyone else having trouble getting on the folding site? I have been trying for two days and it just times out? BTW I have the second most wu done on our team:D top ten points soon!! Wake

They do that periodically to conserve bandwidth. :)
Just try at a different time.

Thanks guys. @ RealBeast, yup, definitely have some horses in the folding stable now. Half are work machines though, so we'll see how long I can keep them dedicated to the effort here. :)

I'm coming, soon. I just need to get to a million for [H]ard|OCP and then I'll switch teams. Once I get my two quad cores going again, it shouldn't take long at all.

Nice, I'd like to stay in the top 10 but happy to have more production to knock me down. You guys need to get at it and cure cancer soon - I'll be 53 in February! :D

I'll add at a bare minimum 5000ppd to the team, probably quite a bit more. The only real problem I have with getting my stuff up and running is lack of hard drives and space. I've thought about building a peg board setup in the basement, but I think I'll take a more long term approach with some inexpensive 4U cases and a rack.

EDIT and monitors. I'm going to try to score a decent 8 port 15 pin KVM on fleabay, they go for pretty decent prices even with cables there. That and I'll also need a couple of copies of XP for my GPU boxes. I've seriously considered pirating Windows for that use since they're going to be put to a good cause.

People think I'm nuts for spending money on Folding.

I built two dual Xeon rigs a few years ago just to fold. I use a trendnet 4 machine kvm switch that goes into the VGA port of one of my Dell 2407s so I can switch from my main rig on DVI to the others on VGA.

Well, after taking a break for a couple years, I'm going to start up again. I will only have 3 computers and my PS3 contributing, but I guess every little bit helps.

I thought about doing something like that. I was going to buy one of those Supermicro 'Twin 1U' server barebones. They're two semi-blade systems that allow you to put four sockets into 1U of rackspace. Then I'd just install Linux and let it fold. Too expensive, but it would probably save me on power in the long run.

Got my Quad-Core on it now, I'm running 4 instances of the regular version, until the beta client gets finalized (my PC has problems with it).

Edit: In order to make my pc survive overnight at 100%, I open my window and close my room door (I'm on winter break from college), which keeps the cores around 68 degrees Celsius. If I don't, the insane heat my family seems to enjoy brings the cores up to 80.
