Yahoo!!! Sharky team is currently at spot #44 and I'm already at #198 within Sharkys with only 3 WUs completed. I dunno about you guys but last time I did some folding (not for the Sharky team) I would get WUs that were in the 600-900 range, now I'm getting WUs between 1k and 3k. :eek: No wonder I'm higher than a few guys with tens of WUs with only 3 completed ones. The one I'm executing right now is 2.5k and its at 53%
I see lots of new people in the overclocking forum, what's going on? Please join our folding team! So far 6 people have joined since i bumped this from the grave.

also, for those who just joined...if you're shooting out work units and they only show up as worth a few points, it's most likely because the work units are getting corrupted, meaning your system might not be folding stable. :(

For those of you who don't know what folding is...Stanford University is doing research on cancer and how certain proteins behavior relates to getting cancer. They have lots of numbers to crunch, too many for themselves to handle. So what they do is let other peoples computers crunch the numbers, and the results are sent back to them. You simply download the folding client, tweak it a little bit(there's instructions for all this HERE ), and then its pretty self-sufficient after that.
It only uses the cpu cycles that you're not using. Once you start doing something, it backs off and gives priority to whatever you're doing. It's very simple and is for a great cause, curing cancer. So I would ask that all of you reading this post/thread, join the Sharky Forums Folding Team.

yeah, that's fine. I was looking at some other people though and they had like 4 work units for 7 points IIRC. That makes me think something is unstable.Quote:

we definately need more folders, or some of the old folders should come back and support the team again.
we have the potential to be much larger than we currently are - there are nearly 35,000 users here at sharky, yet we have less than 300 folding members, and only a 1/4 of those 300 are even active. that equates to about 0.2% of the total sharky forum population. imagine our output if that number were to rise to, say 1% or more :eek:
plus, you're not just competing agaisnt other folding teams, your helping to find a cure for many diseases, including parkinson's, alzheimer's, various forms of cancer, huntingtons, ALS, and more.
furthermore, it's a terrific way to test stability of an overclocked system, does not interfere with normal usage of the computer, and, if you're in cold climates for the winter and have several computers running folding@home, it's a great way to heat your room (like me)...seriously

Hey guys been down for a while now going to try and get a few computer back up. Can someone post the settings they use for the console?
For AMD
For Intel
For hyper threading
I dont know if the settings would be the same as when I was folding before and it would be nice to have an update. The other thread is a tad long to search through.

Unless you're going to run two instances on a hyperthreaded CPU, you don't need anything special. They fixed the "bug" that used to choose 3DNow over SSE. Just install the client and fold away. Welcome back.Quote:

What about the advmethods seem to remember it was better to run something like that. Is that not the case anymore?
Installing the console asks all the questions and the defaults work well. For Hyper-Threading and two consoles, just make sure you use two seperate machine ID's, as in 1 and 2, as the default is 1 during the install. Each program must also be loaded and installed from it's seperate own folder.Quote:
