The patch breaks the game, end of story. I cannot play now, I get a CTD every time I'm about to load into a map. Less annoying is that it reverts back to 1024x768 every time I connect to EA.
Epic fail, Dice.

Works fine for me and I really like the new server browser.
Yeah, definitely an improvement and I love how your load outs save.
For whatever reason they caved in and released the actual weapon changes made. Any thoughts on the changes? I'm reading that people are saying the grenade launcher is still too powerful, but the ammo reload rate is slower?

As requested by the community, here is the exhaustive all inclusive changelist of all balance updates made in the R10 Server update for PC.
Increased the base range of all Automatic and Semiautomatic weapons for more consistent close range combat.
Slightly increased the damage of Semiautomatic rifles over long range for more consistent damage output.

Increased the base damage of the Type88 LMG to balance it with other LMGs.
Slightly reduced the base damage of the M16 and G3 to balance the increased range.
Slightly increased the damage of the AEK971, F2000, AN94, and AUG over long range to balance them with other Assault Rifles.
Reduced the lethal blast range of the 40mm grenade and M2CG to highlight their role as a secondary weapon against infantry.
Slightly Reduced the max range of the 40mm shotgun to balance it with other shotguns.
Slightly increased the base damage of shotgun rounds and reduced their range to clarify ideal shotgun combat distance.
Reduced the base damage of the PP2000 to balance the increased range.
Increased the damage of the 9A91 over long range to balance its lower magazine size.

Increased the damage of the MP412 over long range to balance its low rate of fire.
Slightly reduced the rate of fire of the M1911 pistol to balance it with other pistols.
Increased the repair and overheat speeds of the Power Tool. Now overheats sooner but repairs the same amount before overheating.
Increased the maximum number of Motion Sensors that can be carried from 2 to 3 and increased the speed which new sensors are acquired from ammo boxes.
Significantly increased the speed of the Tracer Dart projectile to make it more effective against airborne targets.
Increased the reload time of the Mortar Strike and reduced the damage it does to heavily armored vehicles.
Decreased the range of Bolt Action Sniper and Pump Shotgun Slug rounds when using Magnum Ammo for better Kit Balance, especially in Hardcore.
Slightly increased the Health of soldiers in Hardcore for better Kit Balance.
Increased the benefit from the Medkit Heal+ specialization to make it more desirable as a Specialization.
Decreased the benefit from Vehicle Reload Speed to balance it against other Vehicle Specializations.
Slightly decreased the benefit from accuracy specializations to balance the changes to range and accuracy tweaks.
Fixed a bug where the BMD3 would take extra damage to the front armor.
Reduced the explosive damage from Attack Helicopter cannons.
Increased the damage of AA guns against all targets. The AA gun should be much more effective against infantry on Port Valdez.
These changes will eventually make their way to the 360 and PS3 as we work with our partners Microsoft and Sony to continue to support BFBC2 on all platforms.
It was nothing a reinstall couldn't fix. I'm back to playing, I've kinda hit a rut recently. I'm seemingly not as good as a couple weeks ago. It's great that the game saves your loadouts now, it makes it much easier to jump into a game. I do not like the 15 second spawn time at the begining of a match, I have a fast system...
Love the patch, it made the game feel so much better. Waiting for 10.4 to come out. So the loading times are fixed.
I am pretty new with ATI drivers(last time was a 9800 pro) Do you guys uninstall the whole CCC or just the display driver and install driver only?
Yeah, I was almost always one of the first ones to spawn in a new round, and it felt a bit unfair to be honest. I have a good, but not stunning system. I think they narrowed the problem down to ATI users having excessive load times which is supposed to be fixed soon.
The 10.4 preview drivers are out which fixes load times for all ati cards
Wow, I got this game and pretty disappointed so far, especially since I paid $50 for it. Pretty much a camping paradise from what I have played so far, very few people actually run around and fight, mostly guys hiding out in spots in sniping...
Just because you suck at it doesn't mean it's not a good game. You're pretty much dogmeat playing assault with the stock weapons as an experienced player, let alone a noob. Play as a medic or engineer.
The snipers don't bother me at all. Unless you're doing something really stupid, like standing still for a long period of time or exposing against the sky (on the top of a beached ship in Atacama is a good example of what not to do) then you're at little risk of being sniped. At least compared to being gunned down by someone with an optically enhanced AN-94 or M60.
The only complaint I have about the game is that the M14 is nearly useless and I don't like the sight picture on the G3. One shot with the M14 and a target is completely out of your iron sights. The M14 should be able to mount both the reflex sight and the ACOG. The G3 should be able to mount the reflex sight only. I also think that shotguns should be able to mount reflex sights, it would make slugs a lot more effective. I don't know if it'd work though, slugs and red dot sights are in the same category of add-ons.
I also wish that you could carry a mix of 40mm grenades and 40mm shotgun shells. You can't have everything. As of late I've taken a new liking to the MG36 and I've been using the M60 at lot less. I figured they'd nerf it before too long so I decided I'd have to get good with another machine gun. I really like the MG36 because you can still have a reflex sight, carry extra grenades or a uprated medical kit, and use magnum ammo to up your lethality. The thing is dead on accurate with low recoil, you can walk your fire (albeit less powerful fire) onto a target very easily with the MG36.
Some maps ( all on conquest cept White Pass ) are camper fests, try playing Rush. If you are stay off of Port Valdez and Isla, I find they have the most campers. But overall I find they are not an issue, Mortars + explosive dmg are, snipers are not. If they want to hang back and be worthless then go for it. I very rarely get hit by a sniper, It is just too easy to stay hidden behind cover even when moving up. This is also from a 360 pov, We don't have the patch yet.
I find it the exact opposite in terms of rush/conquest. I tend to run around a lot in conquest and I never really had a problem with campers. With rush I feel like you have to be a lot slower (If you're attacking) and slowly work your way up. I'm playing the PC version though so maybe there's just a difference in how people play. Also I find rush is much better with 16-24 players. Feels way too spammy with 32.
Hmph, dunno. Maybe I havent learned the maps well enough yet. I tried to go around snipers to flank them, but most of the time I can even SEE where they are because they are usually buried deep in some bushes/on mountains/inside dark buildings/on roofs etc. So I cant even find them most of the time and usually I dont even see what kills me.
Here's how my game round usually goes.
*spawn*
*make way towards objective (note, usually there are no teammates around me)
*Suddenly, POW. Didnt even see where or who shot me.
*Replay shows player who shot me and its a guy in the recon skin.
*rinse and repeat.
I like the game from a aesthetic standpoint, but gameplay wise its just so hard to play as a run and gun type of player. Also its REALLY annoys me that in a modern game thats been patched multiple times, they still cant fix the bug where the Enter key is unbindable. Thats been my "sprint" key in pretty much every game that has a sprint function. I adjusted to use the 0 key on the numberpad, but that used to be my grenade key, so I guess that makes it a disadvantage too.
Mind boggling how they cant fix such a simple bug...
But oh well, I guess I need more practice. I didnt like Rush from what I played in it, pretty much get obliterated in spawn all the time...
