Near impossible to get into a server these days if you wanna play Rush and do it lag free. All the low ping rush servers are always full, :/
I dont get people who buy a game only to leave it for the newest thing in a few months.

New map pack coming with 2 new maps (for real this time, they're actually new) as well as 2 maps from BC1:

More like "new" since the maps are from the single-player game.
Well the map back got released and these new maps are horrible if you like to run'n'gun. All totally designed for maximum camping/sniping.
Fail.
Every server has to run them too, because new=means better.
I really like them, different fighting style/tactics needed to stay alive.
I am really liking the new maps. I have just discovered how much I enjoy hardcore mode using recon.
All you have done is ***** about this game. If you dislike it so much, don't play it. I haven't played in awhile, so I can't comment on the new maps. I can say that Battlefield has never been a "run and gun" game. Never. If you want to be good, you have to be fairly tactical. It's not ArmA, but it's not Call of Duty either. Just because the bunny hop/circle strafe technique that worked in Quake doesn't work in Battlefield doesn't mean that only camping will. When I stopped playing I had like a 354 skill rating and I'd barely scored any points using the Recon class. Even fewer using the Recon class with a sniper rifle.
I think I'm going to start playing again when the Vietnam expansion pack hits.
Such hostilities...tsk tsk... *** is this spectat dlc garbage??
Rofl.
Settle down ladies.
Complaining? Hardly. I like the game, and just because I criticize some elements of the game or the new maps doesnt mean I automatically hate it and should go play Quake. And strafing/bunny hop certainly works, you just need to use it in the right situations ;)
I am not saying Battlefield is a "run n gun" game. Its not a "sniping/realistic simulator" either. Its both. Thats why I dislike maps that try to force a certain playstyle on you to follow, maps that dont open up to varying styles of play.
And yeah, I know you could take buildings out...but on one of these new maps there are no building. Everybody's just setting up campfires in the hills and it ends up with both teams sitting around which puts me to sleep. Maybe these maps are better suited for Conquest (I only play Rush, so I wouldn't know) but they are definetely vastly inferior to the original maps released with the game.
Adapt to the battleground, try a different class. Engineer with scoped g3 kicks *** on the big maps.
Team up and take out a chopper toghether. Loads of fun. Variety is the spice of life baby
I wonder how you guys justify one of the new maps (Cold War I think) where the attackers spawn on parachutes and the other team sits picking them off, sniping. So most of the time, half the team does not even make it to the ground.
Two seperate instances of this on two seperate servers I encountered. The result was that one team was filled with guys rocking 38/3 scores and such, while our team got slaughtered because you cant even shoot when you're on the parachute and we couldnt muster up a big enough force out of the "parachute survivors" to mount any signifact counterattack. We were playing in squads too, but the squads that managed to get through and spawn on each other ended up being picked off by the rest of their teams, which was very rare in fact. The squads I was in managed to get behind the snipers a couple of times, but we just didnt have enough support because it was so difficult for the other players on the teams to spawn and organize.
Both games ended without the teams arming even a single objective.
Of course you could say the players all sucked on my team, but I rather think its a definite map flaw. Also, I dont necessarily mean "snipers" as Recons, but also the ton of guys rocking G3's with the new scopes and picking us off from the parachutes.
I guess you could say its a "different playstyle" from the other maps and... *gets shot off parachute*
i didn't like that map either...especially when you spawn in a free fall half my team or more died on impact LOL
I played one of the new Conquest maps, Heavy Metal...it's pretty awesome. I really like the sunken road for some reason. I'm definitely down on ability though, not playing for six months will do that.
For me, it's not that the maps are bad, it's just that compared to the other maps, they seem out of place. Bad Company 2 maps usually have a lot of cover in between capture points (I only play conquest) and there's very little in Heavy Metal. It's like once I capture a point, I just stay there and defend because trying to run to the next point is a good way to get sniped or more likely blown up by a tank. It feels a lot more like a BF1942 map than a BC2 map. It's certainly something new and different, but I don't think it works that well.
Anyone tried Vietnam yet? I played for about 10 minutes last night (work night, so I didn't really get started). I'm a little disappointed that it's short on new weapons and other stuff to unlock. I already have everything. I can't comment on the maps, I only played Phu Bai for a few minutes.
Nah I think I am passing on Vietnam. I enjoyed Black Ops and MOH more than BFBC2 so I don't have much interest in returning.
