If I were them, I don't think I'd regret it no matter what happens this year. Favre is just way too wishy-washy and he's strung them along during the offseason one too many times. It was time to move on imo.Quote:

umm anything short of championship game is a indication of a wrong choice for GB in my book....It's like when the Ravens dumped Dilfer....why?
He's been f'ing up their offseason preparations for at least two years now. All those reps for Rodgers and all the talk that he's the man would have gone out the window. They used TWO draft choices on QBs last year that they likely would not have used if he had come back.Quote:

You shouldn't auction your entire future for the hope of one good year resting on an old inconsistent QB. He had a great year last year, but it wasn't long ago that he had the same (or more) number of INTs as TDs in a given season.
Besides, no one but the Packers themselves know how far along Rodgers has come. Everyone just assumes he's a step down, but we won't really know until we're into the season. Plus, a championship game is far from a guarantee even if Favre DID come back. Only one of the teams from the 2005 conference championships even made the playoffs in 2006 (Seattle, who only made it out of the first round because the Cowboys muffed a snap). Only two teams from '06 made the playoffs in '07, those being the Colts and the Patriots, and let's face it, the Packers are no Colts or Patriots.
Also, while I agree on the Ravens-Dilfer thing, that's a different situation; They just dumped him. Favre is the one that left the team and came crawling back in this case.
Normally, I'd agree with this without reservation. But in this case... with GB being seemingly so close to being a SB quality team... I think that the short term (re: this year) is also important.Quote:

If a backup QB is a decent player, and understands the concept of "team"... then he may be willing to sit as an understudy for as long as needed. Historically, there are many cases of this working out.Quote:

As long as they get their chance at some point where their physical abilities are still good... and Rogers has a lot of time ahead of him as a Pro player... physically I mean.
Over his career, Favre has been more consistent than inconsistent. True... the past few years had been rough... but I'd argue that was a result of a diminished team around him more than him being a diminished player. And lest year bore some evidence of Favre being a capable player still.Quote:

The single greatest attribute that a QB has in my opinion... is his mind. And Favre's mind for the game hasn't diminished.
A team will always pump up their confidence in their new QB who is replacing a legend. Oftentimes when the new QB is a mere shadow of his predesessor. Having lived the Jay Fielder years in post Marino Miami, I am well aware of a team promoting the new QB...Quote:

Sometimes, a teams promotion is validated (in the case of Steve Young replacing Joe Montana for example)... but that is the exception... not the norm.
This is true... but I'd argue that not many people think that Rogers gives the Pack the chance to win the SB that Favre would have.Quote:

Christ and now the Bengels resign Chris Henry.
Just what that team needs. Resign a thug after they did the right thing in cutting him after his 5th(!) run in with the police. This isnt gonna help there image at all. The Bengels are the new Vikings/Cowboys with the amount of arrests on the team, and now they bring back one of their biggest problem players.
They shoulda picked up Joe Horn after his release today. Their talent levels could be argued one way or the other, but at least Horn isnt a walking arrest.
Look for the Raiders to pick up Horn. Davis loves to give big contracts to hasbeens.
I'm curious to see how Felix Jones and Darren MacFadden do. Hopefully I won't be let down at this year's SB like i was last year.
Also, will the Madden curse affect #4?
How could the last superbowl be a let down. I can't wait for opening day against the skins.
This is my fantasy team, not in order of pick obviously..
QB Manning, Eli
QB Garrard, David
RB Westbrook, Brian
RB Grant, Ryan
RB Bell, Tatum
RB McAllister, Deuce
RB Dunn, Warrick
WR Williams, Roy
WR Welker, Wes
WR Toomer, Amani
WR Bruce, Isaac
TE Gates, Antonio
TE McMichael, Randy
K Bironas, Rob
DST CHI, Chicago
DST DEN, Denver
Not really happy with a lot of the crap I picked up but what are you going to do?
Let down? This was the best Super Bowl in years! In a decade! The first 18-0 team in 25 years and they LOSE to a 6 loss team who beat the 2 best teams in their conference to get there. The only people let down were the Patriots fans.
And tbh, I think Favre is already kinda cursed after the whole retirement/unretirement media circus he had all summer. And playing for a mediocre team like the Jets, I predict a very mediocre year for Favre.
here's what I got for my league. I know I don't have much of a chance to get Brady and such because my league has 10 players... so I concentrated on the Bucs running game, their new awesome kicker, and they're fast point-producing defense.
And I want T.O. no matter what.

That's teh draft rank. here's the logic. If I can't get Manning or Romo (I'm not gonna even bother with Brady), I want Cleveland's Anderson or Vince Young's running yards. I'll take a shot at All Day but I'll probably end up with Cadillac Williams or Graham, one of which should explode for a lot of yards for TB. Jones-Drew would be nice too. Wide receivers will be real tricky so I'm banking I'll get TO. The WR/RB position is tough so I'm banking on Warrick Dunn.
Vince Young was the last player to go in our draft (12 players, 15 rounds), lol. The last guy didn't have a QB yet.
I have Dunn but I'll be surprised if he does anything. I'm not even going to play him unless something magical happens.
Tampa will get a massive amount of short yardage with Garcia and the running game. One of the 3 RBs will get 1,000 yards easy.
Also, I didn't put my secret player on the list.
Steven Jackson from the Rams.
Is he really a secret? He was the 6th person drafted in my league.
Its amazing to see different tactics for drafts than what I think of. Username I'm not saying yours is bad in any way it's just so amazingly different that what I do. Very interesting indeed.
I don't like to root for other teams players, so I hate fantasy football. My friend had a fantasy player who was playing against our team....and he rooted for the other teams guy , his fantasy player. What a load of bs.
How was the last SB a let down? Clearly you guys aren't Pats fans...
He is listed the #3 projected back in the league for my fantasy teams. Hardly a secret but definitely a good pick.Quote:

Go Seahawks!!!
