Unfortunetly most engineering sample/pre release CPU's come with unlocked bridges or without the trench. Chances are that AMD will use unlocking protection on all new processors.Quote:

I think when Hammer is launched the T-Bred and Barton will become the low and mid range products for AMD.
Look over at anandtech for more in-depth info on the new socket. There are 2 new sockets, socket 754 and socket 940. The 754 is for clawhammer, the 940 for sledghammer. The pic posted in this thread that is almost solid pins seems to be sledgehammer. Here's the link:

The T-Bred is the equivalent of the XP in .13u and the Barton is the same equivalent with SOI.Quote:

Where does the temp diode go? (the bottom of the CPU is all pins :P)
Internal tempreture diode, to which one or two of the pins on the CPU will be assigned. Currently Athlon XP/MP/4 processors also have internal tempreture diodes, although it'll only give a reading if the mainboard supports this.Quote:
