I Hate The Priview Edition!

Wake up people, Morpheus doesn't even produce software. If they did, they could have changed the client to use Gnutella seamlessly rather than scraping both their network and their client. The old Morpheus is the same executable Kazaa, just different settings, they most certainly didn't write the network code, they bought it from Kazaa and ran their own. That's all Morpheus does, they take other software, rebadge it, set the client to load up a webpage that opens a new pop-up ad every minute, and distribute it. The new Morpheus is merely an open source program that was snatched up and again merely rebadged. Don't keep too much hope for this kind of "business".

The existence of two auxiliary upgrade files offered by Grokster is damning evidence that this was a carefully planned purge of the morpheus client. One deletes Morpheus settings from your registry. The other deletes your old list of supernodes, replacing it with a new list. Upgrade instructions for Grokster, which seems to simply be a stalking horse for KaZaA/Sharman, tell users to uninstall the previous versions of the three programs AND run these two files.

To understand what is going on, it is important to realize that there really aren't three different programs (Morpheus, KaZaA, Grokster) but one core program from a Dutch company. To this core, different "skins" and different pointers to ad servers and the home page of the sponsoring group have been added. Largely decorative elements not essential at all to core functionality is what differentiates one from the other.


The original one was KaZaA, which was based on the technology of FastTrack, a small Dutch software house also known as Consumer Empowerment. FT/CE created KaZaA as its consumer arm. The same small group ran both.

Thanks for that link, it clarifies things better than I. I wasn't entirely sure who wrote the client or ran the network but it was quite obvious that Morpheus was not in charge of anything, and has no real software developers to upkeep their client.

Damn, morpheus is gonna die i know it. Switching to the Gnutella Network is the biggest mistake they made.

So now I use Kazaa, Grokster(its the same thing as kazaa except without that talking Cameron Diaz), and Winmx.

btw...winmx looks like the interface of napster. :D

IT IS HORRIBLE. I HAVE ALREADY SWITCHED TO KAZAA. streamcast, you f***ing idiots. you could not have picked a worse thing to do with morpheus. the gnutella network is a POS. about 1% of your downloads actually happen. now, kazaa rules. goodbye forever morpheus, it's been nice working with you.
