Yeah, I think I can live with a 2 Mbit cap(approx 250k/s downloads) and a 384 kbps upload cap(about 35 k/s, not like I upload much anyways). Just think of it this way...in the time it takes you to dial in and make a connection I've downloaded 5 megs already.
because I am a speed addict, and not a criminal...........
if you complain about caps...just go back to 56k.
how often do you actually reach your full bandwidth?
dont lie.....i hardly ever reach my full 1536k even if im downloading 10 files at once.

I love my cable (That's not my cable, but is my screen shot) and would pay quite a bit to stop myself going back to the world of below 512/128. On any day the cable will beat a 56k senseless on download speeds, on web browsing i'm usually at 128k speed, which is still twice as fast as a 56k. I'd hate to go to non-broadband connections again... :)
Buy it!!
Heh I am waiting on the day when we all have 100Mbps connections and a 3GB cap. Ohh I can hardly wait for you monopolized bastards to own our asses.
Excuse the cursing.
I have had 56k all my life... I live in the suburbs, and only just now is AT&T putting down lines.. and EARTHLINK will be my ISP. Say goodbye to dreams of 100mbps speed. :(
Similar to CadetLee here.
1.5mb down, only 108kb up.
Unlimited use, virtually no connection problems, free phone line.
I think that's enough reasons to pay twice as much each month as I did on dialup 4-6 years ago.
I've been using 56k ever since it came out now and still use it today. I get 200 pings regularly in good CS servers and can still kick some *** (2:1 kill/death ratio on average). But I've been dying to get DSL and its only just now become available in my area. Its been available for 2 months but I heard a lot of horror stories of bad service, failiurse and stuff so I waited for everything to get sorted out. It has all been sorted out now and word has it the cap is at 512k. I'll take that over 56k any friggin day. WERE DO I SIGN?!?! :D
Actually I'm trying to sell the idea of DSL to my dad right now, he's convinced we (as a family) don't need it. :(
I think you're all working at proving my point quite nicely. You're quite attached to high speeds.. now what if your service suddenly stopped? Would you:
A) Go insane
B) Kill someone
D) Take it out on your hardware
I'm not saying that high speeds are BAD, I'd love to be able to download faster :) Just saying why not wait until the technology and more importantly the service has settled out into a range of expected/accepted standards.
2.5meg dl 400 uploads.
The damn cable modem works half of the time =(
The cable company keeps sayings it’s my computers. I’m like ***, you come out here and take a look. the guy goes to the attic. 15min later the guys is like heres your prob, it will only cost another 400 bucks to fix... *** installation was like 99 bucks. Before they figuired out the prob they came two times a month. I'm waiting for dsl to get in my area. where i live i'm 100 feet outside dsl... We had Sdsl @192/192 at one point but i'm not sure how they got it to work... "its impossible according to the other internet companies"
too tired for it to make sense

So your telling me that it's better to use 56k because of the possibility of losing your high speed connection? Why don't you just stay inside all day because you might as well be afraid of getting hit by lightning when you go outside. Not to try to insult you but really that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If you can get it do it and enjoy it. If it becomes unavailable then deal with it when the time comes, there is no point in not getting it because you might lose it one day.
Your download speed : 297755 bps, or 297 kbps.
A 36.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 161030 bps, or 161 kbps.
I don't really trust that bandwidth test, because I routinely download files at 100KBps+ (800Kbps)..the upload is a bit low as well - I typically upload at 26KBps (208Kbps).
Well that might be the bandwidth allowed by the place you are downloading from.. I mean even on my connection I sometimes get 300KB/Sec continuous and some are 5kb/sec. :(Quote:
