To be honest, those benchmarks are even using a 700MB CD and not 650MB.
A number of things are involved when burning CDR's, and everyone in this forum could have a different time.
Different media, different computer all together, different file, different burning program, this all makes a huge difference.
Anyway, like I said, the LG Electronics is a good deal, and the 48X Liteon is also a good deal. I just prefer a Teac or a TDK because IMO it's just a better drive.
Also, sorry about the newegg prices, but they change frequently and I got that price from a few days ago and just remembered it.
