I guess no one else notices how messed up the graphics become when you enable best performance under Direct3D. Everything starts to look as bad as an old PlayStation game after that :mad:. Older Nvidia drivers just made things a little more blurry but at least it didn't look horrible.
how do the new drivers affect IMAGE QUALITY?
i've heard problems w/ messed up textures.
seems like nvidia is disabling some stuff at certain modes just to boost 3dmark...
does anyone get significant improvements running 4xAA and 16xAF?
What are you saying? I don't have my GeForce2 on hand at the moment to test it out but does it disable texture filtering (bilinear/trilinear/aniso)?Quote:

When mipmap performance is set to Best Performance everything becomes Pixelated = everything looks like an old PlaySation game. Older Nvidia drivers have never done this before.
When set to best image quality or blend everything goes back to normal.

Do you mean it goes back to normal on High Performance and Blend? You are saying Best is pixelated and then Best and Blend go back to normal.Quote:

What I mean is that on best performance image quality becomes absoulute junk.
When you put it back to best IQ or blend the image quality goes back to normal. What I mean by "normal" is that things don't look pixelated anymore. Pre-40.41 drivers did not have any pixelation at best performance mipmap details.
40.41's have pixelaation at best performance setting
I think Nvidia did some mipmap exploiting ;).
Okay, I gotcha. That's basically what I said back on the first page. The card makers frequently optimize for benchmark programs commonly used and that LOD may have been effected in the process of doing this, and your testing seems to pan that out. Since Nature is a highly detailed level with lots of mip maps, that would make sense as to why the scores jumped so high in that particular bench.
Did you purge the original driver? If you didn't then there are bits and pieces of left overs and made your graphic look that that.Quote:

Over at oc-forums many folks have said that the new drivers are very overclock sensitive. A lot of them have had to back down their gpu and memory clocks 5~10mhz to avoid crashes.
Anyone here having the same problem with the new dets?

I really think these are more optimized for GeForce4s than GeForce3s and older :(.
It could be just them. My GeForce3 at 220/465 is barely stable and with the 40.41's the GeForce didn't show any signs of instability.Quote:

Usually you dont have to do this with Nvidia Drivers but GOSH DARNIT you are right!! Gettin lazy these days with drivers. Went back like I used to in the gold old days and purged all Nvidia from my system then reinstalled the new drivers and I no longer have this problem.Quote:

Everything looks fine at Best Performance if you purge your old driver.
Strange..like I always do with drivers I uninstall everything Nvidia (including the registry) and I had the weirdness in Direct3D.
