I guess in a communist country you may expect it but greece is a democracy and the adults should have freedom to spend their spare time however they choose as long as it isn't harmming anyone or anything else.
Just my 2 cents;)
Wow and I thought you canadiens had a little more education, seems I was wrong cause you dont know the first thing on what communisim/socialism is and you certainly take for granted what democracy is.
Heres a hint socialism or communisim whatever you wanna call it in REALITY is more democratic then the so called "democracy" you talk of.
Its in these neo fascist "democracys" that you see corporations take over things, its the corporations who favor censorship, they are the conservatives who think they can tell the ppl of a nation what they can see or cant see.
Yeah the US constitution means so much, like laws dont go around it eveery freakin day.Quote:

Ummm, does greece have the same constitution as the US? Probably not. Meaning it's probably perfectly legal.
Amazing how clueless a lot of americans are about thier own system.
About the whole greece thing anyways.
I doubt they literally banned video games,I used to live in Europe I know how it is,in bars they usually had slot machines or video slot machines. The law was probably passed to ban them which is stupid as well, but the video games got caught up in the mix,and let me add these are probably coin op arcade games,I highly doubt that PC and consoles are banned.
True but its mostly sheep country so when in doubt they still have thier wooly friends ;)Quote:

You got that wrong. You should try reading the article. All games of any kind based on software are banned. No PC games of any kind, including those built into Windows. No console games of any kind. No hand held gaming machines (ala Game Boy, cell phones, etc.) The ban even includes any game type demos that may be on movie DVDs that are some times there to promote the movie or an upcoming game for the movie.Quote:

They told an internet caffee they could stay open so long as they didn't allow any kind of games to be played, and that included online chess. If they failed to abide by the rules the caffee would be shut down and they would be fined several thousand Euros, which is about on part with the US dollar so that is mucho money, and they could serve anywhere from one month to 12 months in jail.
I bet Sen. Leiberman has a "Woodie" :p
and  at the dumbass Greek Politicians...
Gee the birthplace of "Democracy" sure has come a long way hasn't it.
Yea well we should be getting ready for the same to happen over here in the USA eventually...it's not just guns anymore that get banned it's also the instruments used to convey thoughts.
You have to remember that ALL governments are INHERENTLY EVIL...Governments only care about their own survival and care little for those they govern. You have to remember also that people involved in government(I won't say all but MOST) are in it because they are sick and twisted people that get off on controling the lives of others.

What??
How do you figure? Examples please....
The Marxist view is that Socialism is true democracy and what you have in the US is a water-downed version where business is more powerful than the people and government. Problem is, Socialism has as many flaws as modern bourgeois democracies like the US and the UK.Quote:

I wouldn't be surprised if the EU decided banning games was against human rights and ruined the Greek government’s plans.
The flaws aren't in Marxism or democracy, but in human nature. Marxism looks good on paper, but it requires a lot of effort from the individual. It's easy to run our mouths about Marxist values, but capitalism is more in line with our tendency toward laziness and greed.Quote:

Another poster said that computer gaming was a privilege. I assume he didn't mean that it was a privilege everywhere. It's not a privilege in the US.

now that's pushing it too far. Banning *all* gaming. What were they thinking??!!!
