Everytime i try to install the internet, it says INTERNET SIGNUP FILE IS CORRUPT.HELP

Guess what spanky, I'm not 15 either. If you knew anything about the questionable history of the topic creator, you would understand why tech help to said creator is difficult to give seriously and or whole heartedly.

Most work places and library locations frown upon downloading software, especially burning it. So to a manager or to someone "up high" in business, it doesn't seem logical ;)

You can also try and boot off of the XP install CD, in there should let you do a repair or repair install. You can also try and select Install and when it tells you that XP is already installed, there should be an option to have it do a repair (it's a different kind of repair than the others). The latter will go through the install process, but keep your settings and stuff.

Backup your critical stuff before hand just in case!

First, I'm not 15. However, I'm sure there are 15-year-olds smarter than you and me for that matter. The reason I made the other comments is because this user seems to ask (normally I wouldn't say this) easily-answerable questions. Those questions that aren't
"easily-answerable" seem like they are just made up. Search the forums and you'll see what I'm talking about. For example:

Trust between the language barrier and her lack of computer knowledge, helping her solve anything is a feat short of miraculous.

anyone think that she might be installing her internet from one of those disks that ISPs give out? how many of you have actually "installed the internet"

sounds to me like there is an issue with the info that cd (assuming its a cd)is trying to load.. maybe we could walk her through manually setting up the connections herself..

we need more info.. what type of connection are you using??

And anyway, I find it hard to believe she wouldn't be able to grasp what I was on about, it was only a trip down the paper shop and a quick install of Internet Explorer.

If you go to the Internet Explorer folder in Program Files, the installer should be there (IE6setup). Just run it again, and it should reinstall IE6.

Although I'm not sure she has a CD. Either dial-up networking or the IE installation could be the problem. But she hasn't posted back, probably p#ssed off with the arguing in the thread :o


Because let's face it, the only reason she's on here is because she is a 'Girl That Needs Help'. She hasn't had a great deal on this thread.

Ohhh, I take it you still haven't searched her name. I seriously actually doubt that "Girl_needs_help" is actually a girl. Like I said, use the search and look it up yourself: then you'll see why so many people are ready to add matches to the gasoline ;)
