What about with a bios update?
I imagine you have a great heatsink for that chip. However, in case you don't you need one. With the newer line of T-Bred's, AMD is shipping coppper base retail sinks for these puppies. I imagine you got that covered since you were talking about OC'ing, but I just wanted to give you a heads up. It will OC well with good cooling, as someone stated before.Quote:

Well that is depressing. I just got this mother board a coulpe of months ago and it does not seem to support any of the 333 chips. Why would the put 333 on the box if it does not support it. I feel riped off.

I believe the KT333 chipset only has official support for 266MHz FSB CPU's but that EPoX motherboard you have will have no problems running a 333MHz processor.Quote:

jagojago, geez, thanks. I have updating the BIOS regularly, but last time I checked (couple of months???) there wasn't anything new.
Support for the xp2600+? Yeah!
But...will it work for the October 2001 revision? :( I hope so. :)

Yea, looks fine. Is that an SK-6??? It looks like one with an adaptor on it. :confused: As long as it is copper based you should be fine. It looks like you got great cooling in the rest of your system anyways so I wouldn't worry about an upgrade. However, if you plan to push this chip to 2200MHz+ you will probably need to go with an SLK-800 or something heavy duty. It looks like your board should be fine with that chip in there. :)
To Gorn... I don't know if you are reading the right thread, but you stated you have an Epox 8K5A3+. This board is fine with the newer processors. The board in question was an Epox 8KHA. Everything that AMD has released recently, and most likely later, will work fine with your board.

Yea, like I said you should be fine with that in there. I would just watch the temps if you plan to OC a lot. Even though those chips run at stock 1.5V, they get crispy without the right sinker on there. Someone posted a doc that listed Epox Mobo and the chips they could run. My Mobo listed 2200+ as the highest support chip. While it listed many less expensive older Mobo as capible of supporting the 2400 & 2600Quote:

Well, whatever you read is incorrect. I know for a fact that the particular board in question will run a 333FSB AMD processor. Hold on I will be back in a sec to get you a link. I have the 8K5A2+ it is the same architecture as yours, and I know my board will take these chips.

HANG ON HANG ON! Isn't the board in question here an EPOX 8kha+. I have one of these boards. they run at 266mhz FSB (DDR). As of about two months ago I did some research into the fastest processor I could put onto the board. At that stage EPOX was wanting to end support for the board, as it was then, and is now an OLD board. For any motherboard to last so long running up to date hardware is unheard of. Epox wanted to shift interest to thier newer boards, so they could sell them. NOW, at that stage, ALL information listed the max support as the THOROUGHBRED A 2200+. The Thouroughbred B core'd cpu's would not be supported. Also there was a question relating to various revisions of the board. The first revision would NOT support the THOROUGHBRED core's at all. Only the second revision would work with the Thoroughbred. Now this is what I read on the EPOX site about two months ago.
I need to be absolutely CLEAR on this as it may affect my upgrade plans too! The 8KHA+ WILL support the 2400+ and 2600+??? Do we then know if the 8KHA+ will support faster CPU's? Please let me know if you guys have anything over the 2200+ working on the 8KHA+.
ok just did some looking. EPOX does now list support for the 2400+ and 2600+. However they list the latest bios update as
8KHI2B06 which was created 11/06/02.
However My bios update as of two months ago is
8KHI2612 which was created 17/07/02.
Some sites list dates as DAY / MONTH / YEAR
Americans do it MONTH / DAY / YEAR
My checking indicates that 8KHI2B06 is the latest BIOS as all information relating to it is posted in NOVEMBER. That would definitely make it the latest bios for the 8kHA+. Therefore I must assume the bios is dated the 6th of NOVEMBER 2002.
Does anyone know anything different??
