That's what Im thinkin too. But on the other hand, if they are saying their ram needs to be tested in order to get it running 100% in dual channel mode then they are implying their regular ram may or not run in dual channel mode, even if it meets the specs listed by their twinx (on paper at least).

Isnt anyone else puzzled by the implications of what they are doing?

Anytime a business does something like this,you pay a premium for it. they are providing a service on top of there usual product.

you might get a good deal as an introductory offer,but its doubtful,given the nature of the product they sell.

yeah im going to be giving that the big thumbs down, i just got 2 of the xms 3500 256mb sticks

all that crap is just another way to get in on the dual channel thing. i am going out on a limb here and saying that maybe you would get a 1% increase if that.

its not really a guaruantee of performance increase, its more of a guaruantee of compatibility and peace of mind. no what if's about it.

I do see it as kinda pointless as well.

just buy yer two sticks from the same place, same specs.

Not at all...this line in the story says it all "have been tested as a pair in an Asus A7N8X dual channel motherboard."
Read all the other forums where people are having a tough time getting 200Mhz synch stable using Corsair memory and the A7N8X. ;)

I agree. I can't get my 256 mb Corsair XMS 3200 sticks to run at 200 mhz synced with the processor. I can run the memory at 200 or the fsb at 200 but not both at once. Right now I have them running at 190 synced and it works great but it bothers me that they won't run at 200+. I think I'll try only one and see how that works.

i just tried my sticks independently and both will due 200 mhz synced with a 200 mhz fsb on their own, or with both together in non dual-channel mode (ie in slots 1 and 2). In dual-channel mode, they will not due 200 mhz, but will due 195. btw, i have a A7N8x.

Sorry. I'll just explain it in a simple way myself. DCDDR actually uses 2 ddr Channels for memory. You would install 2 Dimms and it would transfer Data from both at the same time.

Looks very nice. When I snatch up my SiS 655 board (when the AOpen comes out) I'll be RAM shopping too, which I think you've just put an end to. :D

Many of you are asking why this is a good idea. Some of you are implying its a bad idea. Don't any of you FSB OC your computers??? Obviously not, otherwise you would know that running two sticks of ram actually slows things down a tad

That is exactly why its best to OC with one stick. Sticks can vary an amazing amount even if its from the same manufacturer. Having a tested pair ensures that you will still be able to get great ram OC's with aggresive timings while using a pair of chips. In other words you will get the memory bandwith advantage of DCDDR and the ability to push the FSB the way Corsair intends. The only reason I hadn't bought a DCDDR board was because I wouldn't have used two sticks of ram since I wouldn't have been able to keep my FSB where it is with two sticks and remain stable.

If your not overclocking,
would running in DCDDR be faster?

And is it worth getting faster DDR if your not Overclocking?

Like DDR400 over DDR333?

1. yes, a few percent in most apps. Some apps over 10%.
2. no, you would be running the ram at the same speed in either case. If your fsb is at 333mhz, then you will be running your ram at 333mhz regardless of the rated speed (on a 1:1 divider).

Here's 2 X 512Mb sticks for a total of 1Gb of ram. Have you seen any other chipsets than can OC 1Gb of ram like this? ;)
