But....it would still be stock ;)

This card is pushed over the limits , what you talk about stock ???? , They could release the final speed @ 535 mhz GPU with 0 room for overclocking and huge heat and artifacts so what you would say then ,...you would say that is stock ?
At the end the card work with more speed that is sould work , Nvidia guys are not stupid , if they had cut a bit from core this would be a total disaster 7 monts after 9700 and with less speed .
So, by this reasoning, the P4 3.06 is overclocked and overvolted when running at 3.06 because it has to run at 3.06 to beat the P4 2.8 and because it puts out more heat than the 2.8.
I hope you see that this makes no sense.

Yes, the GeForce FX is 77 decibels, but the Radeon 9700 Pro is 64 decibels based on anandtech's results.
You people are overexaggerating the noise of the GeForce FX. Is the Radeon 9700 Pro louder than a screaming delta fan? No.
The noise was measured in very close proximity to the fan, likewise I would expect the measured noise to be greater than 100 decibels if a screaming delta fan were measured with the same method Anandtech did to obtain noise ratings on those video cards.
