Motherboards based on SiS' 655 chipset will be marginally faster than E7205, 850E, and 845PE motherboards as long as dual channel DDR400 support is fully implemented in SiS 655 motherboards (MSI's board is just one example). We never would have thought it, but dual channel DDR400 actually outperforms dual channel DDR266, despite the fact that the Pentium 4's FSB doesn't require more than 4.2GB/s of peak bandwidth, which is exactly what dual channel DDR266 is capable of offering.

Seriously, half of why I use intel now is because they make kick *** chipsets. Amd on the other hand makes pretty crappy chipsets for their cpus. I just didn't want to end up buying 3rd party chipsets from freaking via or sis. I'd think Intel would make the best mobos and chipsets for their own cpus (I'd buy an intel mobo too if they weren't so bare, but I guess Asus makes the next best thing but w/ a lot more features).Quote:

That is why anyone concerned with quality get Intel cpu and motherboard. Why do you think dell does it. Why do you think Intel makes all the Xeon chipsets, because people that are willing to pay big bucks for machines that are going to do serious stuff buy them. Actually in all fairness to SIS, the only experience I have is from earlier chipsets. While I have been buying only Intel chipsets the past 4 years, I am glad that SIS is out there to give Intel some competition. As such we all benefit with lower costs and improved chipsets.:D
