FIRST - Just because you have a higher FSB DOESN NOT MEAN INSTANT 3DMARKS GAIN! 3DMARKS is still Mhz vs. Mhz.. So 2 chips both at the same speed but one at 190fsb and the other at 285 or whatever. Wouldnt yield about the same score. But the extra FSB speed wouldnt be SLIGHTLY higher! Not anything major.
SECOND - Your so called friend said he is not a P4 expert and that he likes AMD. You CAN NOT compare a AMD to Intel when running 3DMARKS.. They behave very differently...
THIRD - I never called anyone an idiot!
Fourth - The RAM + CPU + MOBO cost more then $500 :) Try around $700 or so. But I already had the 1GB in ram!!!!
FIFTH - Your friend doesnt know first hand. So I wouldnt trust his knowledge. First hand experience wins by default over I have heard or read it somewhere!
running in async works just fine on intel chipsets, no there is no loss of performance, p4c running at 1200 fsb + 900 ddr (4:3 mem divider) is WAY faster than the same system running 900fsb+900ddr. not only that, but on canterwood, when you run the fsb higher than the dcddr you are eliminating bottlenecks in the memory subsystem. 1200fsb+900dcddr will yeild higher sandra mem bandwidth numbers than 900fsb+900dcddr. stop posting what your fiend told you, because neither him or you have the slightest clue about what you are talking about.

colossus, you sure 3dmarks is mhz vs. mhz?? i don't know about you, but when i run 2ghz with a 200fsb, my score is a little higher than with a 150fsb or so, or stock. i was under the impression fsb is the most important thing, next to the video. mhz still means something, simply stating that fsb means a lot. i would have thought that you would get way more 3dmarks. frankly, i think you a little po'd that you didn't, i know i would be.
Not always.. But the main reason why you would score higher, is that your memory scores would have increased over stock to 200FSB.
So its not the actually FSB that matters, but what can the increased FSB affects.. Such as memory timings :)
Thunderbird sometimes you should just save your time and energy on your non fact posts. First off dont ask an "AMD guy" about "P4" issues. Sometimes you need to do your homework. We all know P4's are better anyhow :):) :D

I just got my P4 3.0C system running and I heard that it's great for oc'ing. Eh.....how do I go about it? P4 is quite new to me, the discussion you guys been having has gone...WHOOSH...right over my head:confused: . Any help for the newbie would be much appreciated.
