I agree. I don't want to turn sigs off cause it's nice to see peoples signatures. However giving free reign over how long your sig is is a little too loose for me. I hate scrolling past long sig after long sig.
I think this is a real problem and needs to addressed. Turning off sigs is not the answer. Making maximum line lengths is.:)
Tbirds sig has got to go. Listing out even his little celeron system and on top of that quoting 3 people.

Do people consider mine too long??? I did cut out a lot of info like fans, power supplies, etc :)
I don't mind of a kind of long signature, though its nicer if you use a small font for the sig, so that its a little easier to differentiate. Also if people would list things in a little more space consuming manner. Like when listing rig components with a new line for each, write something like "XP 1700+ cooled by SLK800 & 80mm fan" rather then a new line for the HS. I also favor only listing the essentials of it, rather then everything in it. No one really cares if you have a PCI USB 2.0 card in there.
I think Paladyr is just jealous becuase his system sucks. Keep the long sigs. I like them. :)

Not for assisting in "fixing" problems some one may have, who can tell what someone has problems with considering two, three or four systems are in their sig.. Bragging rights, I guess that's valid if your into that kind of stuff, however this again can be accomplished with a link.?

And last, we appear to be getting into sales of personnal items, great for this forum, I guess it's all in what you come here for.
One of the Mods has in their sig, something to the effect, "if your post is shorter than your sig, type more", this could certainly be reworded to "if your post is shorter than your sig. shorten your signiture".
A five or ten line limit would be fine by me, but that's only my personnal view.

EDIT: my system ain't that bad, in case your wondering, my R8500lele beats your 4200 with my old 1.8GHz P4 overclocked to 2.4GHz.

I changed the scrolling of my wheel to 3 lines at a time because of Tbirds sig...
Hopefully you guys don't have to do it for me!:D

i think we should have a limit but not too short (maybe like 10 lines)... cause people are different and should be able to express themselves differently... i like me sig.. but if everyone had the same sig as me... SF would be a really boring place
I really don't think it's that big of a deal. If you don't like looking at them, just disable it.
I also agree some sigs are too long. The original purpose of the signature was so people could list the basic specs of their main system to help others with helping to o/c or troubleshoot an issue. Information about mice, keyboards, etc. simply aren't necessary.
Think of it this way... it's like those people who mod their cars... whether it be those annoying low-bass-thumping-50-inch mufflers, or 20 inch rims, or ugly paint jobs; it's their car and have the right to do whatever to their cars. Sure it's annoying to see those cars with tires that stick 2 ft out of the chassis, but hey, did you pay for that car?!!
We all put our heart & money into our computers, and our sigs are just a way to show off how proud of it we are... If you find it annoying, do what I do, don't stare at that annoying car and drive on!!
