Both you and your (more than likely imaginary) friend Jeff are wrong, and probably do not know how to properly tweak out a XP rig.Quote:

Yep, I have no clue how to tweak XP even though my score is exactly where it should be an Tbird is delusional. https://www.sharkyforums.com/
Like loslilchild6 said, you will only see a performance improvement with an AMD machine. Intels are faster with XP. If you have an intel, and see a performance increase with 2K, it is probably because your XP was not optimized or loaded with programs, or had some problem, etc...
AMDs give the highest scores with Win2k SP2
Intels give the highest scores with XP without SP1.
Like it or not, Tbird is PARTIALLY correct on this one.:)
Does it hurt your head to constantly try to remember every little thing about everyones 3DMark score, gpu, fsb, cpu? You do realise that there is more to life than 3DMark? Buy a fast car, get a girlfriend and live some life. I took a month off Sharky's, came back and your posts are the same as when I left.Quote:

edit: my mistake :( I checked the database, your only 600-700 marks low and that guy probably had dual channel with lower latency ram than you. Still in my *opinion* no one should run stock and let that card be bottlenecked so badly. I felt the same pinch at 8300 marks when I had a 1GHz tbird, ti200s were eating that score with faster cpus :(
edit again: those with ti4200s are very close to your score with the same cpu clock speeds but fsbs around 200MHz. fsb helps like you wouldnt believe when it comes to 3dmark, that benchmark lives for fsb man :)
Stunning.
Tbird you know you shouldn't register under multiple usernames just so it would look like you have friends...Quote:

uh, ok
I get the highest score with XP SP1, and the lowest with 2K SP3. On an AMD no less.Quote:

Then something else is wrong. Countless Page 1 overclockers have said the same thing I'm saying.Quote:

The fact that you get a higher score with XP SP1 than without SP1 tells me you are doing something wrong. SP1 slows XP down a tad.
no, im not saying XP SP1 is faster than plain XP. I've never even used a non-SP1 install because my install cd has SP1 slipstreamed....so I was just refering to the difference between XPSP1 and 2kSP3 which was 200 marks.
It does get a little hard on the brain remembering over a hundred different configurations and all the scores that should concide with said configurations. also Jeff is real and if anyone does an IP check, they arent the same. also something is wrong Jeff if win xp runs faster on your amd rig than win 2k

Then you are doing something wrong... ;).
Although I'm not suprised one bit... you do hangoutwith/chill/talk to Thunderbird1GHz.. hehe.
How am I doing something wrong? And whats wrong with talking to Tbird? Hes a good guy. He may have his own ideas about things, but doesn't everyone? If your going to say im doing something wrong, which makes absolutly no sense at all....at least back it up with a comparison or something so I can test the results myself.

It's like operating system's 101 dude... you are doing something wrong :) ;). If you have the exact same setup.. and everything set up the way it's supposed, and you score the same, or lower under 2k compared to XP... then something is definately wrong, and its probably NOT the hardware ;). Simple as that.
I COULD post a compare link... but what's the going to prove? It's going to further justify my words that I'm right, that's it. And it's not about me either... it's a known fact. AMD's will run better on a 2K based machine. I tried going for max 3dmark score under XP.. and I was hovering in the mid 17k's... no higher. Under 2K I get about 1000-1500 more marks. I never upload any scores because all my hardcore OCing was done in my garage... where it's nice and chilly. Of course, I have no internet access in there... so I couldn't upload anything. And I ran 3dmark 50 times... and quite frankly, I didnt feel it was necessary to save all the times I ran the damn test. Especially not when its to prove something like this...... ::shakes head::
There is nothing wrong with Tbird... heck I talk to him aswell. Ask him... I cuss at him 65% of the time Im talking to him (aint that right Tbird? :)). It's just that from what HE says... you dont know what your doing. Of course I didnt believe him at first, but after seeing some of your posts here... it's like.. "heh... guess birdy was right". Before your runs... he would always tell me how your rig was going to absolutely murder mine... LMAO! I agree'd... heck.. you have a 9800PRO, lol. But as soon as he saw that you couldnt top my score with a POS 9700PRO... that's when the words began to fly... because that's sad :).
But yeah.. not to get off topic..... Go, disabled all pci devices in the BIOS. Serial ports, LPT's, audio, FW, USB, NIC, Modem.. etc. Optimize your bios. IF you dont know how to do that check pyro's 3dmark guide. Install the OS... install the *best* drivers for the board... then move on to the graphics card drivers.. .and start running 3dmark. Overclock.. and keep running.. then finally go for your top score.
lmao, what a joke. if you want me to top your score(why does it matter?), then run 2003 and it will be easy, even with my slower system. btw, my system WAS slower, so how could you expect me to beat your score with a 9800 pro in 2001?
