Im in blacksburg and its hot for summer here but about a good 50% of the school year its cold as &@))$. I could keep my fans at the lowest voltage that makes them spin and my CPU max load temp was 32c on an AVG day. Durring winter it would never get above 29c. And yeah one time I was trying to OC my ti4600 and put the fans on full. I had a HUGE problem with condensation. It crashed while playin GTA3 and I didnt know why. I shut it down and looked inside and there was literally a puddle about the size of a penny on the back of the card right behind the GPU..... If I had the fans on low it worked fine though. Man I miss those days of quietness =( I took it off since its nice and hot in VA...

You don't make a mod like that in hopes of it turning out "pretty". I gaunantee the guy who made that was simply worried about the performance gains from the duct, not if it will be aestetically (spelling?) pleasing.

Well it's an air conditioner...obviously it makes the PC cooler. Cooler temps can mean better performance and higher overclocking potential. Any other great questions?

Actually, I have the same unit here at the house. I recognize the knobs. It's not even an AC, just a window fan. It's actually 2 fans, both individually reversible for supply or exhaust. Nice window fan, not an AC unit though. Still a great cooling idea.

Believe me I've considered doing just what jamesavery has done to enable 365 days of super cooling

For some ppl performance is more important than looks :)

I remember when i first had my tbird 1.3 ghz, and I saw how hot it was. I almost talked myself into doing something similar to that, making a vent inmy ceiling though with a fan to suck out rising heat.... I'm very glad i never opted to do that... I can imagine waking up to a nice pile of bird **** on my pc hahah.

yup.... i used to use a window 5,000 btu a/c unit to cool my proc.... had temps in the 15-25c range.. after about a week my comp stopped working.. looked inside and saw that my mobo and psu was fried and there was water droplets on all over the place.. learn from my mistake

When I did that it was purely about performance. Yeah I know it looked like crap but hey, for the money I spent Id like to see someone show me a better cooling setup. But that old tbird is now my Mom's system and Im doing the finishing touches on my Xeons =) And those even at 3.2ghz don't need as much cooling as my old tbird did =)
