Intel developed USB, Serial ATA, x86, AGP and many other things without competition from AMD or any other company. Intel develops new technologies and increases speed of its processors so they keep up with software and other parts of the computer, Intel is also one of those rare companies who also cares about advancing computers for the good of all of us and yes aswell as to make more money. If Intel was still at 1000mhz they wouldn't be selling nearly as many CPU’s as they do today because no one would have a reason to upgrade. To be 100% honest If AMD wasn't around right now Intel would be in the same position as they are in now with pretty much the same speed CPU's.Quote:

Heck if it were not for AMD Intel would very rarely have to change the name of its chips because they always increase in mhz and there biggest breakthroughs dont even seem to get new names anyway like HT and new processes Intel just addes a new number to the pentium name when they see fit form a marketing standpoint.
