thanks guys. i knew about the 8K3A+ reporting higher temps (http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthre...highlight=2100) but i didn't think it was as much as 15-20C! but prime is going strong now for 15 hours, peaking so far at 70C (it's in the 90Fs here today though), and still no errors. so i'm going to take your word for it that it's about the same as in the 50s with another board, and not stress too much more about it. :D

Temps arent bad... shouldnt be that high though. I remember I had an AX7 before.. and I upgraded to an SLK800 and my temps didnt go down as much as I thought they would, lol. But even so.. my temps never go up to 55+ anymore. what kind of fan do you have on the AX7? And also.. how is your case airflow?

Well tbird, after enduring your mockery of my broken nforce 2 board, it was a bit of a relief and "LoL" for me to see you fail prime95. Way back when to the time of about a week ago, my computer was stable. It ran at 2.2 ghz at 200mhz fsb, with the AX7, and topped out around 50C. This was at the most ram timings of 5-2-2-2.0 or something like that. I then ran prime 95. It passed, without a single error after a few hours of playing Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo. Then, my board decided to crap out, so congratulations, your system is now more stable than mine!

BTW: If it runs 3dmark at that speed, why not post your score? I believe you said that your kt400 was faster than my nforce 2?:D

I told him to get a nice HSF so many time... goes in one year and comes out the other.

I run toast, its mega weee. I'm not oc'ing much now, to lazy to keep the fan on for the computer, so I knocked it back to 1.5 vcore @ 2.2Ghz. Its good enough for now. Hell I may just keep it at that for a few months, then when games seem slow I can bump out the vcore and add a couple 100 mhz.

I'll just toss this in cause I'm to lazy to start a new thread for it:

3dmark2k1 score with 190x11.5, 1 stick of mushkin DDR 256mb = 9047
3dmark2k1 score with 190x11.5, 2 sticks of mushking DDR running dual channel: 9242.

Thats with a Ti200, nothing optimized or anything like that just curious about the difference between single/dual channel.

i've heard that prime is the be all end all for sstability tests. If you pass, it's stable, if you fail, it's not. I have found no evidence to refute this. This is why i love prime, and hate it at the same time.

then my board reads from both the internal cpu diode and external because it reports 60c internal or core temp and like 48c surface at 2GHz and 1.6v at 2.14GHz and 1.75v its 75c/57c. anyway I will listen and put better cooling on the top of my priority list right now and purchase a heatsink/fan combo for $30 or less and before I buy it, ill have you guys approve that too. I will think of it as an experment and see how much it helps if nothing else it was research and proof that I have listened :)

oh by the way at 1.8GHz at 1.6v prime ran 12 hours, 45 min and no errors :D :D time for better cooling

I would recommend the Thermalright AX7 from www.svc.com for 17.99. And you can put a good 80mm fan on there (if you have one). If not... get yourself a TT smart fan 2 :).

But that's only 133mhz above stock speeds... which isn't impressive at all.

I second the suggestion of the AX-7. Also, depening on if you have a fan or not to stick on there, check out the SK-7 at svc.com also. You might be better off getting the SK-7 actually...

Ok guys im checking out good cooling solutions. ill get a solid copper heatsink and right now im looking at quite fans, say 60 decibels and less. also 100cfm and 7000+ rpm would do

if you go that route, reostat the fan as you will be annoyed for sure with the noise.

everyday ops, lower fannage rpm's to quiet, gaming, crank her up to max.

i can flat out guarantee you will pass Prime 95 at a much higher clock, cause when you improve the cooling, you can give her more juice. :D

if you pay attention, you might even learn something in all this.

this is all assumming you attach the heatsink properly, of course.

i say go for it and just get the SLK-800 with either something like panaflo ultra (UA1), or thermaltake smartfan 2 so you can adjust the volume when you need to. you're already at 60C with minor overclock, so don't mess around with lesser heatsink solutions. lostlil said it didn't make much difference over his AX-7, but every bit helps at 60C. i'm considering that move myself. otherwise, get the SK-7 over the AX-7 as xp1800 said. :cool:
