Do you think, with an A1 nForce2 (doing 220FSB or so), I could break 20k? I could also put copper ramsinks on my vid card and possibly (if I was really close) use a CPU HSF on my radeon.

The previous owner seems to be a pretty stand-up guy (although he does get very defensive very quick) so I doubt he himself damaged it. I also mentioned the tape to Chip-Con, and they didn't act like it was anything unusual - I think it's supposed to be there.

As for shipping, $3000 is the very cheapest (courier) shipping I've found. It's UPS Expedited (no Standard service available).

Your memory settings might be your problem. I would read one of the guides on setting the timings. The 4 is way too low. I'm guessing your error is because the memory is being flushed before a process completes. If you can get the first number down to 1.5 you can try 1.5-2-2-5. Otherwise I would not go below 2-2-2-6. Read over either Mushkin's timing guide or the recent article on Toms Hardware. There is a nice graph that shows you what is going on.
