A water leak generally wont kill your puter unless it's a fairly heavy one. The thing will probably just short out alittle and randomly reboot. Just take it apart and let it sit in the sun for a day and it'll be as good as new.
THAT IS SO NOT TRUE!!!!Quote:

I spilled a whole bottle of water or was it ice tea??? On a IBM Dual P2 server many years ago.. The server was active and running.. Most of the parts fried... So I know that a water leak can be more destructive then that!!!
The server was opened and I was in the process of install Windows NT 3.51 (prior to NT 4.0)...
However if the system wasnt powered on.. You have a better chance of things living :D
So I did what any computer tech would do :D I swapped it with another brand new server in the box and put the broken one back into the storage closet after I cleaned it all up.. :D :D :D
LoL a whole bottle of water is a little different to a little leak, lmaoQuote:

Well it wasnt technically a whole bottle... I was drinking it :D :D
I agree with Colossus 100%. You might get "Lucky" and spill water on your components while they are running and have them still work but that's exactly what it is, luck.
You can EASILY fry your board by spilling water on it when it's running.
And in regards to the pager analogy, years ago I dropped my pager in the Intracoastal Waterway and it sunk to 8 feet deep in saltwater. I rinsed it with fresh water and dried it out and it came back to life.
However, you don't have anywhere near the level of voltages, or amperage in a pager compared to a PC and it's not nearly as complex.
You guys can go on thinking spilling water in your PC is ok. But one day you will regret it.;)
i know that its not like hmm, the computers dusty so ill go hose it out now. but i know of several instances where the computer has been on and off and had gotten wet and most parts survived.
and just to decrease the amount of hassle that i have to go through, i exchanged my 9800 at compusa, and purchased another warranty.
I had a leak, which was a small one. It toasted the video card, but a CMOS reset brought back the mobo.

I lent my pager to my sister once.. I had one of those nice Motorola pagers.. The one with the text screen about 5 years ago... Cost me a few bills, however she is younger then me and she brought it too school.. She didn’t notice it fell off her pants and she flushed it
ROFL!!!
I wonder if it still worked on the way down the line...
