Bump?!?
I'm not quite sure what you are talking about. They even redesigned it now and it grips the desk hard. The thing never moves.
The surface is fantastic, your mouse just flies across it!
You're actually the first person I have ever talked to that had anything bad to say about Ratpadz.
The only bad thing before was that it had a flat bottom and sometimes one of the feet would come off, but in the new version the bottom is hollow and is redesigned and the feet can't come off and it grips the desk tightly.
To each his own, but I think they absolutely rock!:)
hey it wasnt me who dissed the ratpadz. the other dude said it had a hump/bump in the middle? i just wanted to make sure hes telling the truth.
whats all this about..im confused as heck right now. thnx for the link vertices.Quote:
I disagree, i bought a Ratpadz and hated it, the bump between where it rested and the desk was just too high, and i really didnt like the sliding my hand over the surface.
By bump i mean the edge of the Ratpadz, its a little bit under the thickness of two normal mouse pad, and the edge is beveled, but I still find that large increase in height annoying, mainly because the ratpadz is hard plastic and is uncomfortable to my wrist, where as a normal mouse pad has some give to its not like resting on a rock.
Thats why I like the everglide pads. They are about the same thickness as a ratpad but the bottom has a small cutout. They sell gel pads that fit into that cutout spot for you to rest your wrist on which makes for a comfortable experience.
Another vote for the Everglide Giganta. I have an optical mouse, but bought the regular solid black giganta. (I think a special optical pad is a marketing ploy, but it does look cool). Cheap, and lasts almost forever and nice to work on.
i used to use ratpadz but the surface wears out after about 3 months and you have to buy a new one..... now i just use the standard cloth pad... dont see much of a difference
The best surface for an optical is a piece of cloth that is the color of the LED. It'll provide the best tracking and it's really comfy. You can see the red piece of cloth on my desk in this pic:

I's a nice big mousing surface. :)
My ratzpad GS wore out in about 2 months of heavy usage. I have a func now and its much more durable in my experance.
I want a mousepad that is black so my mouse can go over and have no troubles reading, and also has a rest for your wrist so you don't get carpal tunnel hehe. So I am ordering this http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.c...f=n&vID=108218
I've owned one like that and it was terrible for optical mouse. Lots of skipping and jumping around. Worked really good for a ball mouse.
I'm such a weenie. I have the black func pad wich goes with the rest of my "omg, he's a 1337 gam0r" black setup EXCEPT... I have a bright purple wrist wrest 'cause my wrist was getting sore all the time. :D
