I would get the 2500+ and overclock it and see what it will do, then if you think it is not a good overclocker. Go and explain the situation to your sister and see if she will trade out.

wow, nice life. You're gonna steal parts of your sister's comp that she paid for with her own money so you can overclock more? Why would you steal from your sister....i'm sure if you just ask her she will trade ram with you.
I'm just saying his sister seems kind enough to let him live in her basement, I'm sure she wouldn't object to supporting his overclocking.
So it's all right to steal OTHER people's stuff :)Quote:

All the nurses strike and stuff and they get paid more :p
My mom won't mind if I becomes a male nurse.
But I hate working on people's bodies, so I am studying Engineering.
I hope your sister kicks you out.:p
why would i want to take parts from the family pc??? its a 900mhz e-machines
Ya same here, I'm on a POS p3 500. My system will be so much faster. She PAYED for that system with HER money, if you steal parts she worked for and replace them with junk, that is very low of you and is downright disgraceful.
but there would be no performance defecit to her. so is it really disgraceful? or it it merely naughty and cheeky? I'd go with the later.. besides he built it.. I'd swap.
Just tell her you swapped a few components and that if she notices the comp is ACTUALLY slower then she can have them back. Maybe take her out to lunch or something to compensate a bit financially.:D
Technically, I'm on the family machine right now. But....my parents barely ever use it. :D
i like to think of them as all mine.
Yeah same here, I build mine, my moms, and I'm currently building my Bro's with some of my old parts:)Quote:

HEHE. YEA! :)
i would do that...but i think my parents would be worried about it messing up and them not knowing what to do (since i no longer live with my parents). i AM currently building my sisters comp, though. and she doesn't care! ;) :D always a good thing! :)Quote:

edit - to clarify...she is really glad i'm doing it for her. she trusts me (for good reasons).
See, what you'd be be actually doing is HELPING her, right? If she got used to all that power she might become yet another helplessly addicted early-adopter and throw all her hard-earned money away on computers. You're saving her from herself, right? :D
Seriously, one thing you need to consider is that you shouldn't underestimate her. You never know, but she might know or find out what she has and you're going to have real hard time explaining what you did. My uncle once "borrowed" a few parts from my mom's brand new $3,000 Dell, thinking she was too clueless to figure it out. Well, she wasn't..and after some heated words, and a near a$$-beating from my stepfather, my uncle hasn't been allowed in the house for the past three years. Why? Because my uncle had to steal what probably would have been given to him had he asked for it. It hurt my mother so much and its very easy for me to imagine how your sister would feel. You'll feel much better about yourself if you come right and ask, instead of stealing it. Yes, it is stealing. If you've got to question yourself, there's a more than likely chance you shouldn't do it. I don't mean to preach to you, but I'd hate to see you go through what my uncle did. He meant no real harm but now no one will talk to him. I hope you make the right choice. :)
