The controls are great (10/10), the graphics are sick (9/10), music is decent (7/10), cant tell about the story (?/10)
The game actually feels quite different from the original Soul Calibur, largely because all the old characters have had their movelists modified. Dont worry, this doesnt mean you'll have to learn your favorite character all over again, but I guess in a way, it does. The majority of the characters' basic moves have the same commands as they always did, but the addition of new moves, stances, and a change of speed (Mitsurugi, for example is much faster than he was in the preceeding game) means you're in for a whole new ballgame.
Guard impacts are still there, as are parrys, and of course, the soul charge. The spirit charge seems to have been completely removed from the game.
And finally, the new characters are good for the most part, but Necrid and Heihachi (see: I hate Tekken, so I may be biased) suck.
EDIT: I'm gonna rent the GC version when it comes out so I can check out Link :D
I didnt play the first one, but have been going to the arcade version of Soul Calibur 2 every other day now (wheeee 30 minutes from chinatown). So could you compare the controls to that of a stick and buttons? Also, i also hate Tekken and i agree that PS2 got the worst character. I dont see why he was included, he dosent even have a weapon, and SC is a weapon based game!!! Couldn't they have included...say, an FF character? Hell, Squall would have fit in better.
