What was the absolute max oc your tbred did

Thats not too bad, maybe if you got an slk-800 you may hit 2.4GHz. I had 2.09GHz then the slk-800 got me to 2.47 :)

seeing its an xp2000 and not an xp2100 I think this calls respect for the xp2000s. I dont see alot of you guys with xp2000s everyone seems to want either an xp1700 or xp2100 and recently some have gotten the xp2500

your xp2100 did 2.62GHz in one mobo and 2.66 in another but prime95 crashed anyway(same for me) and your xp2400 wasnt as good an overclocker, I think you had it to like 2.55GHz. your xp2500 maxed out at 2.54GHz. sapasion has it to 2.58GHz I think. besides that, show me how many tbreds on air that can go past 2.3GHz, just check peoples sigs, most have around 2.2GHz........

never tried but she will complete 3dmark everytime, besides at 2.2v I would not want to run it at 2.47 other than to eat their rigs :)

then why are people spending an extra 10-15 for xp2100s? I saved that much by going xp2000 instead of xp2100 a few months back.

I dont know why most AMD are choosing the XP 2100 over the 2000... But I never heard of the 2000 being a bad overclocker...

Now I have seen some 1700+ at 2.5 or higher... Now those are impressive... But with only 2.4x or so and not prime95 passing... I dont consider it impressive or stable :)

Try lowering the speed until you can complete 12 hours of Prime95 :)

Then that is your real overclock speed :)

There are plenty of people who can push said hardware to the breaking limits for a screen capture or a quick benchmark... But that doesnt mean it is stable.. nor impressive :)

Its like having a 3.0c and able to post at 4.5Ghz... Its not that impressive since its not even stable enough to boot up in windows!

People choose 2100+'s over 2000's because the former are AIUHB's, as opposed to the latter, which are JIUHB's. A's come from the centre of the silicon wafer, whereas J's are further on the edge. As you may know, the closer to the middle of the wafer it is, the better the chip will be. 1700+ DLT3C's are also a favourite because of their low vcore (1.5v, as opposed to the DUT3C's 1.6v).

I must have one of those rare AIUHB xp2000, otherwise id have an xp2100. I checked the cores, both were *identical* so I could not justify an extra dozen bucks for an xp2100. they had the xp1700 but it was nearly the same price as the xp2000 and it was a regular JIUHB one. as for booting up, mine is like 98% stable at 2.47

we still don't know what speed you really run the 2000+ at, in all the posts asking about that, you have conveniently left that info out.

i suspect your 2.47 gig and the 98% accuracy estimate are not happening.

where are the benchies??? how long can you run prime 95???

what speed are you running the rig day to day?, you know stuffs like that.

lots of your information is either misleading or omitted, misleading i think because you and your own 'little world thing' and omitted because you don't want us to know the actual speed your CPU is running day to day.

I'm hoping to hit 3GHZ on my 2700+. I was lucky enough to recieve one with monster stepping. I hit 2.5GHZ stable on watercooling, (28C idle, 32C load) but couldn't go any higher because of my mobo's crap vcore.

Prommie cooling this weekend though. *insert evil laugh*

LOTS of people get 2.3 on air. From point zero, I've gotten over 2.3 on both my 2100+ and (current) Barton at 1.8 and can run 3DM, Prime95, and eveyting else until the cows come home.

I tend to avoid getting in spats like this but I will enter this arena just once to lay some things down. First, regarding the issue of absolute max oc as the thread title inquires. This means different things to different people. Some grab a wcpuid shot and bolt before an imminent system crash. Some will run the standard host of benchmarks at the bleeding edge max. Rest assured there is a major difference between a wcpuid shot and a completion of the standards. Anyone who clicks my sig link called My Rig will see my list of these standards. Of course for most air coolers absolute max oc is also time of year related. I'll be the first to admit the screenies in my sig link are my absolute max's. They are my winter time records so to speak. In the winter I am able to funnel into my PC much cooler air than I can nowadays. So whereas I can and did run 2.63Ghz during the winter I am not currently at that speed in fact I'm over 100Mhz slower.
Second, regarding the issue of what most people have their Tbred's OC'd to. In my observation, many SF OCers have indeed achieved 2.2Ghz. One thing to remember of SF's 30K+ members I'd guesstimate that less than half have their PC's OC'd. Even amongst OCers there are different gradients. Most SF OCers have mild/safe OC's. So much so that I'd wager a guess that over half the SF OCers if pushed could increase their current OC's, just for the sake of increasing it. What matters to most people is that they are content with their PC's. Some people need to OC further than others for that level of contentment. Now there are a number of AMD OCers who have gone well past 2.2, 2.3 and a few past 2.4Ghz. Make no mistake IMO 2.4Ghz out of a Tbred is a noteworthy accomplishment. What is disappointing to me is how we cannot appreciate and praise others for their genuine achievements. Often times people will produce results which might be less than our own but for them its still a record. For example mine Tbred OC Max within the aircooled SF community was only eclipsed by lost's. However, when I hear of a XP2100+ owner hitting even 2.3Ghz I am usually there with a pat on a the back and a well-done comment.
Third, while I try to be very open and forth-coming with compliments when they are merited, I completely understand the skeptics. I have said many times the proof is in the screenies. We all now how easy wcpuid shots are to come by. Then there is the issue of cheating. What exactly is cheating? Well there have been people here who are purporting rather genuine achievements without exactly being honest about their methodology. It is little secret that my own records are achieved only by means of cold winter air. Not to imply the 2.5Ghz I'm at right now is anything to sneeze at but certainly there's quite a difference. Some other people have openly admitted to throwing PC's in refrigerators and/or freezers, having AC units hooked up to their rigs. To me that's all fine and dandy if you are upfront about it. Although I'd personally question how long you can keep your PC in the freezer. What burns me is when someone flashes an apparently rather massive OC and then we get the and I'm just on air statement. It always raises my brows when screen shots are so slow in coming or they don't come at all. Now again, I'm not witch-hunting anyone per se but integrity is quite important to me.

At the end of the day if someone is pleased with their rig that's great for them. We all have different intents and purposes for our respective rigs. Some of us are 3DMark chasers, others are gamers, others still are mostly web browsing hounds. I spend very little time worrying about other people's rigs and/or what they think of mine. I have a sig link with pictures because I'm proud of what I achieved and want to share that with others. Finally, I have always loved SF because for a forum community of our size overall our members are people of honesty and integrity. I certainly enjoy dialoguing with people like this. Sadly, not everyone is such a person.

TBird, are you basing the 2.2ghz OC off of me? I find my OC to be far from impressive. I find it average. Actually, I find it to be crap. But that's the oc that i stopped at when it decided that it wanted to do 200fsb overnight. I assure you tbird, that i have done 2.4 ghz on this processor, and that i am FAR from the maximum that i can do. Didn't i tell you that i can do 215mhz fsb at turbo settings on this thing? Tbird, what is your definition of a max OC? Maximum possible or maximum stable? In my opinion, in order to qualify as a mximum OC, the computer has to pass prime95. If it doesn't pass prime, it's not stable. See, my 2.2ghz actually passed prime. At the time, i was too elated that it did 200fsb to even care about a higher overclock. I enjoyed my mild OC and PLAYED A GAME.

That is when i fuxored the XP install the day after. I waited 8 weeks or so to get my XP cd, cuz my friend went to Europe. And guess what, i got the cd on friday. Installed. Decided to 3dmark, overclocked too high, and got an alarm. That is when i did the infamous clear cmos while the psu is plugged in thing. So now, i have a dead mobo. Yay, no games for the whole summer. That's my story, cry me a river...:p

I think that in order to qualify as an actual OC, it must be the max 100% stable oc. 98% stable just doesn't do it for me.

I understand what you mean Sapasion... and I agree. I too help out others that need help... and give well-deserved kudos to those who deserve it. However, Tbird is another story. I dont give him kudos... and I will probably never give him kudos :). It's more of a personal thing, that I dont let, get too personal ;). If you saw some of my AIM logs with this guy... you would understand why I now despise him. Another thing... if you'll notice in his introductory post in this thread... he was referring to a certain individual... and guess who he was talking about ;). But that's beside the point. 2.47GHz is falls between average and above average from my standards. But the way he talks about his OC... makes it sound to be so godly and rare. ::giggles::

I have the highest respect for you lost buddy. Allow me to remind you that we do have a ignore list ;) I used it for certain people myself. However, as a mod I was encouraged from time to time to actually know what all people are saying in my forum. So now I don't use the ignore list at all. What I do do is not response to nonsense.
