Oh yes tabbed browsing is good but I really dont mind if my different sites are in a tab or on the taskbar, it's all the same to me. One thing I cannot live without however is Opera's mouse gestures! Subtle mouse movements to control every aspect of the browser its the greatest thing ever.

Think of the Windows Display Properties window. Ya know all the tabs it has up top? Well Mozilla lets you open links (with a middle click) and it makes a new tab right under the address bar, so you don't have 5 windows on the start bar, but rather one window with tabs on the top for all the sites you're viewing.
Question: With Mozilla Firebird, does anyone know the keyboard shortcut to but the focus in the Google search box?

you mean it's like Opera where you actuall open 1 program and inside you can see all the open windows?
tabs are the...tabs ;) ...that you can open new links in at the top of the browser window for easy navigation. i've made this graphic (sorry, it might be kind of big) where you can see the tabs near the top. one says "Search Results," one says "Reply to Topic," and the third one says "tweaking tips."
you can right click or middle click on a link and open a tab, then when you want to go to that page, you just click on the tab. right now "Reply to Topic" is the active tab. if i want to go to tweaking tips, i just click the tab, and that window comes forward. when you're done, close the tab, or if you're not done, go back to another tab.
tabs help you organize and navigate your browsing much better, ime. for ex, you can open a bunch of tabs in one window, and open a bunch of tabs in another. then you only have two windows to deal with, but you have multiple pages open. nice! :D
Bascially instead of opening multiple browser windows, they all open in the same window, just in tabs. In Mozilla theres a small "tab bar" at the top that has all of the tabs in it. Also you can group a couple of wepages together, and have them saved as one bookmark. Like I have all my nerdy news sites all in one tab group, so when I want to see whats new all the sites open up with a single click.

Tabbed browsing rocks. Does anybody know if there is a way to have it save the state it's in when you close so it comes back the same way? As in, you have a ton of sites opened in different tabs; when you close the browser and reopen it, those same tabs are loaded up.

edit: found my own answer, ctrl+k for the search bar focus.
Grr, that I'm not so sure about :( I know you can bookmark multiple tabs with one bookmark, so if you have a bunch of sites you commonly visit you can load them up with one click. But not remember them, unless I just can't figure out how.Quote:

Yeah, open up all the sites you want in a window, then select 'Bookmark this Group of Tabs' now when you click the bookmark you've made it will open all the tabs you had open before. I also use the 'last page open' feature which while it doesn't open all the tabs you had before it will open the top most tab you had.Quote:
