That was exactly the point I was going to make. LOL! Everyone puts forward the 30FPS, because that is the speed that video runs at, I believe movies run at 24FPS, old movies run around 15FPS. The reason film looks smooth at those rates is because of the "motion blur" effect. The blur smooths the transition between frames. How fast would a white and black frame have to be exchanged to be preceived as gray? At 30 FPS you would get the strobe effect, at 60 it would look gray, but the image would seem bumpy. Once you got around 85 or so, you would start to see a stable image. This is a generalization, but should help people better understand what's going on.
