Hehe, I hear ya!:( I could get one of these setups easy...at the expense of my life savings...;)Quote:

I'm glad I got my 8RDA+, this and my 2500+ in Dec. will hold me off until the prices drop and the times comes when I need the A64.:D
Needs versus wants. Its true most of us want the high-end cpus and VC's but its equally true that those of us with cpus bought in the last year are doing pretty well at todays high end games.
Thank you bun packing job....
Job before college kinda thing so I can get some stuff before college :D
Actually I am waiting till San Diego before I splurge
It looks exciting, but I don't think any processor is worth $1000 Cdn for the desktop.
I'll wait a few more weeks thank you very much. ;)
Let's all chip in a get one. We can treat it like the Stanley Cup and do whatever we want with it for a day :)
lmao...awesome idea...Lord Sharky's Chip...:p

what's the difference between all those athlon 64 chips?
Yea but MWave doesn't include shipping with any of their prices. They are probably right at the same price after you add shipping at MWave.Quote:

I wish I could get one of these suckers, but I don't see that happening anytime in the next year or so :p Unless they drop below $200 anytime soon *busts out the voodoo and starts chanting*
--edit--
It turns out to be $3 more at MWave if you add 3-day shipping.
As a rule of thumb I would never ever buy a new product until its been out for several months. All you do is make yourself a guinea pig. Waiting a few months gets you better quality and lower prices.
Good point, the nF3 issue is a perfect example of this...Quote:

However, at about $450 (CPU) and $130 (mobo) I was very tempted to buy an A64 this morning. I need to upgrade, but the question then becomes, 2500 and new RAM, or A64, new RAM, and a new mobo.
Well... a XP2500+ and some RAM would probably cost you half the cost of an A64 alone..Quote:

But I'm hoping these prices'll drop before the end of the year. $450 is way more that I's like to spend.;)
Same here, I like to be cheap with my computer equipment because I a) buy so much of it and b) end up throwing it out after a few years. I am sure that I will forgo the A64 for now and get the 2500 and some fast RAM. That way I will be able to at least recycle the RAM when I make my next move.Quote:

1. I've been out of the loop so i was shocked that the 64-bit CPUs were already released
2. My mouth hit the floor when I saw the price
I'm entirely too frugal to even begin to think about considering a cpu that expensive!!!
