I didn't realize ebay was scam infested.
I can't say I'd buy a monitor on Ebay, though those Sonys start at $500 shipped on Newegg. Its up to you.

Unfortunately it is with certain products. Namely used monitors. Stuff like brand new sealed stuff you rarely have to worry about. but its always good to be anal just incase someone made an ebay ID just to sell fake stuff that happens to be extremely popular at the time. They are pretty obvious most of the time though. Like you will see a guy with only one feed back where he bought something very small like a pencil then all of a sudden he has 10 auctions up at the same time all for brand new 9800xts....Quote:

I'd only go for it if it comes with a warranty.
Hence the original receipt... The only warranty I really consider is the one from Sony. In terms of "warranty" from the seller all I consider is guaranteed not DOA. If it comes dead you get your money back. If it breaks later you get another one from Sony.Quote:

But I have seen a few auctions that would have been worth it that came with neither. Ive seen a few CPD-G500s go for under 150$ delievered.... These were sold by individuals and were in perfect condition. That Id take
That's what I meant. Original reciepts through Ebay is IMO worthless. There's no better guarantee than the one from the actual manufacturer.Quote:

If you mean "original receipt" as in the receipt from the ebay seller than yeah.. But I meant Original receipt as in the receipt that the original buyer got from the actual authorized sony reseller (ie newegg, bestbuy etc). But if the Ebay seller is an authorized seller than thats good too =)Quote:

No, they switched sites. I believe it was because of the bad rep they were getting on resellerratings. They used to be a decent site, but the past 6 months they seem to have really gone down hill.Quote:

I can't remember they're new name, but if it comes to me I'll post it.
I'm confused, but I can agree to the last one. If the last one holds true, then it's all good. :DQuote:

What are the chances of seeing 21" monitors with original receipts? I think its very slim...
I don't think i'll go for the CPD-G500s. IIRC, their retail price is only $299... and this is for a 21" monitor!
Does this guy look reputable?

Is there a way to buy used monitors directly from leasing companies?
The MSRP of a CPD-G500 was like 599$. But they were replaced by the CPD-G520 so they dont really have a MSRP because Sony stop manufacturing them =) Id really stick with Sony, you may have to wait a few weeks but you'll find a good auction. All the Dell, IBM, Sun versions all use the same tube but they have much worse performance. Not to mention no chance of a warranty at all.
But after a quick search there are no good auctions for a CPD-G500 right now...
The best I see right now is this auction for a CPD-G400
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=3696
He probably has an original receipt to. But its ideal because it was only home use and he was the only owner..
This is the ideal auction you want for a G500. But a G400 for 120$ is a great deal also =)
Hurry guys, theres a seller with dell p1110 monitors ending in a few hours and the amount is like $20 now! also theres a personal user, not a dealer selling buy it now for $135! If I didnt have one already, I would buy his by now. man the dell p1100 is a steal and I own one, its a beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!! go 4 it!
What a bunch of crap. They are all made by Sony, in a Chinese Sony factory, and rebadged before shipping. If it is a Trinitron tube, Sony made it. Dell does not make their own monitors, Sun never has, and Compaq perhaps did in the past, but not their Trinitrons.Quote:
Whoa whoa.... Now if you want a trinitron and you want to get it off of ebay get a REAL Sony Trinitron, not a Dell, not a compaq, not a sun. And to be honest most of the auctions that come up when you just search for 21" trinitron are crap... The only way to get a good one is to be very anal about it. Search for an exact model. Namel CPD-G500 since that would be the best deal and the are usually easy to get.
exactly. its sad when people pay much more for sony when my dell is the exact same thing! sony monitor with dell slapping the name on the outside :)
Hmmm... didn't know that. I heard about this before, but was a bit skeptical.Quote:
